anyone use those transmission coolers with the fans mounted to them ? if so, where did you mount it ? how big of a one did you use ? how did you control the on/off temperature ? how far away from the exhaust does it need to be ? as always the case, i thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts and advice !

I had one and tried it different places under the car and it didn’t do what I needed it to do. Powerglides on the transbrake with 6000 stall converters build lots of heat. It was just another power drawl doing nothing so I moved it up front. I mounted it on my radiator with 1/2 inch gap. I have a twin sealed fan unit mounted on the inside of my radiator and it drawls plenty of air to cool both. Mine is drag only so I’m not fighting traffic.

Rubber line and screw clamps. Doggone track oilers.

The fans don't last long. At least one side of the core must be shrouded, or the hot air will just recycle.

Rubber line and screw clamps. Doggone track oilers. Fact. And they use gas line 'cause "it never was a problem before" and the real hydraulic stuff is 'spensive. Hose turns to mush. I like the cooler under the car. Hoses can be kept short and reduces the clutter at the front of the car. The heat sink style has worked well for me and we've also used the Earls unit with the fan for the more demanding deals. -6 AN fittings with Teflon hose and PTFE style fittings..

lots of ideas to consider, but no rubber line and hose clamps for me ! We had a Mopar Racer at Keystone not only get the whole track but the pit road too last year. We ate dust all day in the pits. The don’t call the Mopar race the “oil down nationals” for nothing. We do have our share of hard headed racers. I told Elmer at Hagerstown once - his Mopar meet is the annual rustproofing for the race track. He laughed.
