So does the side oil hole go up or down in the bore?

I have almost 3 sets of these and I want to use a good set of 16 in my 410 Stroker 5.9. But the book on how to build Big Cube LA engines says to install them with the paint stripe up to keep from trapping air inside. None of my 40 that I have on hand have any paint.

So does the side oil hole go up or down in the bore?

For what it's worth, I am currently assembling a 318 LA roller engine using Sealed Power Magnum replacement roller lifters (HT2269). All of the research I have read on Mopar forums state the hole faces up in the bore.

"I have found LA roller lifter bleed hole (looking from front of car) are orientated front to back, I believe Magnums are side to side. The LA rollers can bleed off sometimes after sitting for a while
causing lifter ticks until warm up. Lifters can be interchanged, *keep Magnum lifter bleed hole
On the top side of engine*, keep LA roller bleed hole on the higher side of the engine (measure engine with spirt level when on level ground"

Oh wait.....are these factory roller lifters? If so, they install only ONE WAY. With the oil hole facing the INSIDE of the lifter valley. Face them the other way and they bleed down.

OK Thanks.
