k I think i'm in. New member here, have a 67 dart 440 car, altercation relocation kit in front with manual rack & pinion steering, 727 tranny with 3500 stall, mini tubs with cal split mono leaf in rear on a dana 60 with 410 gears. aquired a un molested 400 block want to build a 512, would like to make min of 650 hp.I'm told that if I use max port 270 heads that it might not fit under the hood due to poor intake selection. The car has a fiberglass hood with a 4" hemi scope. I'm not sure if using the 240heads I can get into that hp ,the car is 98% street driven, but it makes it to the trac a couple times a year. It has ran 11.40 at mission track in BC. Pump gas motor also. Any body out there have some insight for me PLEASE!!!!

:You can make 650 hp with the 240 heads on a pump gas 512 but the engine will be a little rowdy for a street car. Use a ported Trick Flow intake and solid roller cam in the 260 range with 650 lift and you should hit the 650 hp mark. My 470 was well over 700 hp with the 240 heads but it had some fairly expensive and trick parts on it.

It would be better to state what et you expect , the track you run the most & how much the car weighs, & welcome here !!!

There shouldn't be any height issue with a 4" scoop, as long as it's functional and not just cosmetic.

I have a 512 ;ow deck in a Duster....Its making 773hp...I run the EZ1 heads with the big Indy intake.Dominator carb is right up to the bottom of the FB hood with a 1" spacer, and then I have the scoop.....The carb seals right to the bottom of the hood....There is plenty of room.

I also have a lo deck in an A body and fitting everything under the hood. I used the victor heads with the Indy 400-3 intake pushing the Dominator very close to the 6 pak hood. I use a Moroso drop base air cleaner which has a 2.5" drop and has a 3.5" filter in it. If using a 4150, R2C also has a nice drop base as well. As long as you have some kind of scoop, you should be able to get everything to fit under the hood.

Does the track you go to not enforce the roll bar restrictions?

It should be nothing to have that car running way way under the 11.50 cut off.

Car is in Edmonton Alberta, yes trac rules anything under 11.499 needs 4 post cage min. Car ran 11.40 in MIssion BC, down here it ran 11.60 soo jus on the cut off. It only goes to the track maybe twice a year to private events so no hassels so far lol. If i had a good set of rear tires it prob be there, it howls tire tires thru 1st an 2nd gears
