I wonder if he accidently stuck it into reverse? Why did it hop a little off the starting line like he hit the throttle and then let off and then got back on the throttle again Did he roll the sprague doing that?

A good friend of mine was one of those guys that felt he had to shift into neutral after a pass. He totaled his car after missing neutral.

after missing neutral
The technology to prevent selecting anything but high gear and neutral with the throttle closed is 50 years old, and has like 3 moving parts. I guess that's why it's not mandatory - it doesn't cost enough.

Doubt he shifted into neutral as he wasn't past the finish line when it let go. Probably a stock 50 year old drive shaft with a million runs on it. The pic they show of it all mangled at the end looks like a fairly small diameter with mild wall thickness. Scary accident for sure.

That wasn’t a very fast car. Looked like a 6 something pass at best.

Spend money on a good shaft and put good loops in the car that are attached to something heavier than 20ga sheet metal? Naw...I've had this stuff in the car for years and nothing has ever happened. You guys are just trying to sell me crap.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

All that money spent and it looks like an OE drive shaft.
When you see a drive shaft break in the center like that you know the tube was too small in diameter and the wall thickness was too thin. And probably it was a cheap materiel.

Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston
