The ports are smaller inside than a stocker.

The ports are smaller inside than a stocker. In some cases, that was true. 440Source did have a run of rough castings that had the smaller internal passages but they have improved them since then. One thing to make a note of: The thermostat sits higher on the aluminum housings by 5/8". This can interfere with the fitment of the A/C compressor if you are considering an aftermarket Classic Auto Air kit with the small Sanden compressor.

They work great.
6000 + miles on my 505" RB.
Hundreds of dragstrip passes.
Never any issues using the stock '65 radiator and factory clutch fan.
Takes 600 hp and a 200 shot of nitrous like a Walrus takes to water!
'63 Dodge 330 11.19 @ 121 mph Pump gas, n/a, through the mufflers on street tires with 3.54's. 3,600 lbs. 10.01 @ 133mph with a 250 shot of nitrous an a splash of race gas. 1.36 60 ft. 3,700 lbs.

MP was the last seller that I am aware of, for USA origin B/RB water pump housings. The last place they were made was the same California facility that also cast and machined the M1 intake manifold line.
All gone now.
The older Direct Connection housings are cast pretty roughly and are a little bit thin compared to the MP pieces. I don't know where they were cast as that was before my time, but it had to have been from different tools than the last MP housings.
