i just bought a set of jegs 15x8 wheels with a 5.50 back space with 275/60 drag radial. The tires hits the springs, I’m going to replace with cal trac. I’m thinking of getting the 4.50 back space. That 1 in back space should help..what did you guys do to make this wheel/tire fits?

Offset spring hangers will make your life easier. 275/60/15 M/T drag radials on my '71 Duster fit no problem with the offset hangers and Caltracs. 15 x 8 wheel, 4 1/2" backspace.

Had a similar deal on a Duster BB street car.
It already had the 3/4" relocation but was still too tight with 5.50" BS & 275s.
5.00" BS would have worked perfectly but that's not commonly found.
I eventually ran a 4.50" BS 15x8. Tires were just inside the outer wheel opening.
Often a 28" tire gets pretty close at the front of the opening, too.
If it was a lower-powered street car with studs, a 1/2" spacer would work with the 5.50 BS.
But that thing made 600 ft lbs...
By the same token, the racecar has always had .250" spacers and they've never been a problem (low 10s).

Is it a stock small bolt 8 3/4 currently in the car?

This may not work for you but I have a 65 B Body housing under Dads 72 Duster...Backspace on the 9.5" wheels is 5.5"...

Tires are 275/60 M/T ET Streets...

5.5" is too much for a stock width small bolt 8 3/4 without a spring relocation...

15x8 with a 4.5 backspace with a 1/4 spacer plate works on my car.
