What is used for a clutch pedal return spring? I just converted my Dart back to a 4spd and the pedal does not return. It does have some return spring about 1/3 the way down but after that it goes over center and wants to stay towards the floor.

Are you saying that there isn't one connected to the clutch peddle under the dash? It's not really needed if you have a return on the clutch fork down below. You need one or the other.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Dont most performance clutch manufacturers suggest removal of the over-center spring anyway?

It depends on what style of pressure plate is used.

Depends upon type of pressure plate..
If a diaphram.. Yes
If B & B 3 finger.. No.

I don't know about the manufacture's but all that is needed is a good spring on the clutch fork to pull the throw out bearing off the pressure plate, the peddle doesn't have to return to full up position.

I assume you have already completed the swap? As when you haven't completed the linkage from the pedal to the pressure plate the pedal want to stay down after it's overcentered. Otherwise it's what Rowin4 says...

Is this the over center spring?

I already have an over center spring. Are there 2 springs under the dash?

I'm running a Soft Lok clutch, I'm now thinking I don't need an over center spring........

Well I think I'm going to remove the overcenter spring. This Clutch only has 1200 lbs at the moment.........and should go much lower.

Getting there. I'm almost to the point of just playing with the small stuff. Time management has been a real issue.

I had to remove the spring under the dash when I went to the light pressure pp otherwise it would stay on the floor.

Yup, lose it. The overcenter spring actually helps hold the pedal down once you reach a certain point.
