Looking to step up to drag radials on my car and wondering what everyone else is running. It is pretty tight back there with the stock wheel wells and stock position leaf spring. Right now I am running 15x7 diplomat steel wheels with 235/75-15 tires. Would prefer dot approved tire.

I'm running 275-60 MT ET Street S/S on my 67. With a 15x7 steel wheel. Mine has 4.25 backspace. No idea if your Diplomat wheels work. Those should work great.

Too bad you don't life closer, I have a set of those nitto's on 8" wheels sitting under my workbench you could try. Nice tire they ride great but no traction on my 600hp 4-speed Hemi. 100% better ride than the bias ply that are on there now. If I'm going to drive any distance this set of radials go on the car so I can enjoy the ride. Radials and 4-speed don't play well together at the track. what don't you like about the bias ply? they follow grooves or just feel like a bad ride? what tires do you run on the front? Have a pic? Thanks!! I'm watching this therad close because I'm going to put some different tires on my 67 coronet, not sure what though. Thinking some some Pro-Trac bias ply on the front (215/75-15), or maybe some Coker 6.70-15 BFG bias ply and some MH Musclecar biasply on the rear, 275/60-15

That is a beautiful car! Sorry to the OP, I don't have any extra insight. My dad has a '66 coronet and yes they are small wheelhouses. Please share what you come up with! I'm running 275-60 MT ET Street S/S on my 67. With a 15x7 steel wheel. Mine has 4.25 backspace. No idea if your Diplomat wheels work.

275/60/15 ET Street Pro will give you the best traction but won't last if you drive it a lot. I've been 1.54 60 ft. and drive them everywhere without issue. They are AMAZING on the street for traction!
Nittos wear much better but just won't hook nearly as well.
Here is a pic of an unprepped public street (allegedly) leaving in 2nd gear. Hooked and booked.
'63 Dodge 330 11.19 @ 121 mph Pump gas, n/a, through the mufflers on street tires with 3.54's. 3,600 lbs. 10.01 @ 133mph with a 250 shot of nitrous an a splash of race gas. 1.36 60 ft. 3,700 lbs.

Nittos wear much better but just won't hook nearly as well. This, nittos last longer but don't grip nearly as well. The BFG drag radials were a happy medium for me, but I don't think they make them anymore.
