Hi Guys,
Another newbie question here..
Looking at picking up this used trans. supposed to be a small block 727. Kinda looking to upgrade the 904 behind my 318 for a while, its starting to slip.
Is it a 727 for a small block? What should I check out before i pay for it. supposedly rebuilt 4 years ago and has been sitting on garage floor as shown since then.
How can I tell what year its from and if it will work behind my 318? in my 69 Plymouth B-Body..
Thanks Plaz

What Stumpy is looking for. Pulled this pic off the internet. Note the measurements and starter location.

It is a small block 727 with the bracket for a console shifter.
The last photo shown has the starter lump visible. A keen eye will note the sharp corner on the lump. B/RB provisions were rounded there.

The stamped VIN 2Fxxxxx makes it from a '72 model year Dart or Valiant built at the Newark plant.

Hi Guys,
I got the seller to snap a few more for me...
PN PK3515844 3615 0758 - hunting the google looks like a late 1971/72 trans - behind a 360 engine - small block 727..........standard(& police/taxi 318)
I think exactly what I am looking for - are these stronger/better than the pre 1972 variants.
."a longer bushing was introduced into the 727 front clutch retainer which necessitated changing the clutch retainers, the reaction shaft support, the cast iron seal rings, the rear clutch piston retainer and the transmission assembly numbers"

Why not rebuild your 904? It is more than strong enough. Every smallblock Stock and super Stock car runs them and some guys have adapted the 904 guts to the 727 case for big blocks. If you put the 727 in your car you will also need a drive shaft and i think converter.
