Its not the distributor that is of issue, its the ignition box. Pick a coil and see if it will work with your ignition system.

What happens if you use a coil that isn't compatible with your ignition? I have been running a 6AL with a HVCII coil for years. Seems to be ok
72 Dart 500" low deck Indy SR heads. 10.40 @129 best so far

HVC II Blaster #8253 is a preferred coil for a 6. The Pro Power 8261 is not.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I used those two MSD parts with both a 7AL, 7AL3 and a Digital 7 box FWIW.

I didn't have good luck with the blaster SS, had to go back to the good old Blaster 2
