As for the unusual being the case - if the program was being properly managed someone would have included what we call an “II” sheet which advises the user/installer which side is left/right, how to adjust the torsion bars correctly to benefit from the design of the spring, which hanger to use for what car, etc.
The program hasn’t been managed properly for decades.
I agree which works out great for me. Rather than just whining about it I started making the parts the MP forgot about. I would not have had much of a business opportunity if MP had it act together so I've always been grateful that they didn't care much about the needs of their customers. http://arengineering.com/home-page/spring-hangers/

Had a set on my 9 sec Duster for 10 years. They didnt go bad after 1 year, they don't ride harshly, and they were engineered nicely by Mopar to do what they do I dont get where people say some of this stuff I had a similar experience with a set of the 002,003 SS springs I bought new in the mid 1990s that where made in Mexico on my 1969 Dart BB bracket car, I did end up clamping the front and rear segments on them to get the best performance out of them also I race that car with them and drove it on the street with no sagging or bending, 1.42 60 ft. times foot braking with a best of 11.17 at 122,.+ MPH weighing right at 3150 Lbs. with me in it Maybe I got lucky, maybe not I went 1.34/35 with mine. Cheap 3 way CE shocks at all 4 corners. Car was ultra consistent. Tons of people on this forum know the car and know how it worked. I think people consider the springs “ settling” meaning they are going bad. That isnt the case. Until i sold it the car ran the same as the day many years earlier i installed them. Raced with a lot of guys who ran/ run them, and hearing they go “ bad” in a year is a first hearing about. It definately isnt the norm. I still have my 456/457 s-shaped pieces of $hit in the scrap pile and you are welcome to them if you pay the shipping! It wasn't a case of them "settling", either. As for guys not being able to figure out Cal-Tracs, there are people out there that think the earth is flat, we never landed on the moon, etc., too!
'63 Dodge 330 11.19 @ 121 mph Pump gas, n/a, through the mufflers on street tires with 3.54's. 3,600 lbs. 10.01 @ 133mph with a 250 shot of nitrous an a splash of race gas. 1.36 60 ft. 3,700 lbs.

I had 002/003 springs on my car when I first started racing it and they were heavily clamped on the front segment and they worked pretty good. Then I tried Cal-Tracs for a while and they worked great for a while then they started sagging after a few years. I went back to SS springs but used the 454/455 springs and my car loves them and it still sits the way I like it after 4 years Gus

Why does my car sit funny? Which spring goes on which side of the car again? How come these things don't bolt in? I have a '74 Charger, which SS spring fits my car? I have a Volare, which SS spring fits my car? The phone calls would go like that all day long......... Just shy of 9 years before I moved on It toughened me up a little bit and I think I needed that. B body spring relocation kits were some of my favorites....99% refusal, once it was understood the frame had to be chopped. The 1976 barely legible blurry *Xerox copied instruction sheets they came with Just added historic perspective to it all. The old stuff was always rough around the edges, which enabled cottage industries to take off. Things were pretty good about 11 years ago...... *Intentional reference 😅

I have had 454/455 ss springs on my pile for a long time, they have not Changed that I could notice. But I did buy them second hand And the guy I bought them from said he had John R. Spring work them over... Not sure if that was true or a fake selling point....but the springs seem ok.
The same plant in Mexico makes all of Chrysler's leaf springs...all the truck springs Have come from there for at least 20 years....But Having seen what passes for blueprints for Older vehicle applications, I developed my own opinions about where the issues lie. Old specs are surpsingly loose.

I don't know why everyone is so bent on whining and bitching on this board. About everything.
I've used SS springs since I've been racing Hemis almost 50 years ago. For the money, I don't think you can beat them. I've found over the years that you do have to adjust and play with them, like you do every other race combination. I used 2 clamps on the passenger side front segment, and one on the other. The car leaves hard, and drives down through there as straight and clean as a new Chrysler 300.

The fact that certain people here say they have good springs and then those that say they have had bad further confirms my earlier statement that no one is managing the program correctly - at least from the quality perspective.
A plant that makes good springs for current production and makes bad springs from time to time for Mopar Performance means the production engineers and quality people are engaged in quality management on the OE side and no one is home for MP.
And if any one worked with the MP tech line and responded to those quality calls that Andy references we wouldn’t be bitchn’ about it here.
What’s really frustrating - for me at least - is that most of these quality issues could easily be fixed.
I’ve been around Ma Mopar in one form or another since the early 60’s - I hate to see us going in the direction we are.

It's just not as simple as it should be.
Hopefully someday we can say hello, shake hands and talk like human beings Were meant to.
Right now, my old buddy Don is answering the phone at home probably In his underwear. Don is a super cool nice guy, and has a real nice Ford Ranger with a small block Chevy in it. Not really into Mopars. I'm not sure issues get past him.
Been out of that environment since '13, and could write a book about it but I spite of being entertaining, it would Probably cause more problems than it would solve.

The SS springs are unusual since they are left and right hand (confuses a lot of people), Gee, I wonder why they gave them different part numbers ?!?!?

I love that color scheme on your charger - did you try to capture the look of the UFO ran in the 60’s and early ‘70’s?
Very nice. thanks transman. that paint is as applied in the summer of 1971. the front fender had a mishap a couple of years later, and doesn't match. car has many "battle scars", and i more than likely will leave it as is. i'm getting a fresh bullet ready, so hopefully, it will be out very late this year, or ready for next year. as for the UFO, this was painted without thinking about it. it does have a little resemblance.

I got a set on my 65 dart (came that way to me as a roller). I loved the way it rode (daily driver). The reason for the thread/posting was I saw a set on FABO for $150 & thought they might work on my upcoming 63 dart stock car but the made in mexico metallurgy had me worried & likely the SS springs ain't a perfect selection in the first place & they did just got sold.
