In this area tires are easy to find too. 9.00-20 and 10.00-20 are everywhere. New, used, recaps whatever you want. IF the truck has Dayton spoke type wheels guys will switch to 22.5 tubeless Radials.
Dodge trucks are some of the best built heavy duty trucks from any era.

Well I made it home with her! No big issues, swapped out the voltage regulator for an over charging issue, and swapped out the windshield wiper motor and linkage bushings in the NAPA parking in Lewiston Id. Other than that, not a bad return trip. I took it slow and easy, doing between 45-50 mph and about 3000-3300 rpm.

Looks really clean! How many gallons per mile did it get?
I'm thinking around 10 mpg, but that is a guess. Topped the R/H tank off in Lewiston and it was around 1/4 left in McCall. Topped it up with 26 gallons and made it back to Mountain Home with about a 1/2 tank left. So some where around 30 to 35 gallons used for 340 miles.

What are you going to do with this truck now? At first I am going to do a full service to it, and then work it.I am trying to figure out the older fluids that the service manual calls for, before I work it, I will change all the oils and do a full tune up. After that, I will be using it to haul gravel for a lot of landscaping, haul hay, and I have a 1/4 mile driveway that needs a lot of attention. As I work it, I will be fixing it up. Eventually I'd like to do a full restoration, if I can find the parts.

The new synthetic gear oil won't bother the diff but the synchros in the trans might might cause a fuss unless you use the stuff with the friction modifier in it. Nothing wrong with conventional gear oil if you are concerned about compatibility, especially given the intended use For the engine, 15w40 Rotella, Mobil Delvac etc will do the trick. Kevin

Nice truck. Nothing special on the fluids. Jack the wheels off the ground and grease those king pins. Looking and your trip MPG wise I calculate it at 6mpg. A friends father now deceased was in to brass era cars, drove em all over the USA and Canada. Real old school gear head. He ran an add in Hemings for years selling all sorts of early oil, grease and gear lube. He had cans and bottles, many different grade stickers but only 3 drums of lube. Gear, oil and grease. Don’t forget the elimination of Sperm Whale oil from industrial lubricants came in 1972. That was a game changer. Red

In looking at the pics Bigdad and you have posted, both have windshield chrome, vent divider chrome, chrome bumpers.
Does that mean they have Adventurer packages, or was the trim standard on the bigger trucks?
Either way, nice trucks!
