You might need to ask Cass ( DoctorDiff ) about that. I have a feeling that the actual booster is the same, if you are referring about an ebody. The difference may be in the way the rod on the master cly side of the booster is adjusted to length. The drum booster and disc master are different on a b body. The single diaphragm midland Ross is not as strong as the dual diaphragm Bendix used on the disc brake system.

Which car? If you look at service manual they usually were different especially on early cars. Several variations of boosters both midland, Bendix, single and dual. Also MC will be different Drum to Disc. Type of disc setup used can also effect the choice.

as said, it depends on what car. Some were the same, some were not.
those that were not, it basically does not give you enough assist.
Nothing wrong with being able to stop like normal, but you won't have the extra power needed for a panic stop where you could lock up all 4 wheels if it were the correct booster.

I believe you would have a single diaphragm boost for power drum. The 70 B body used a Bendix dual diaphragm booster for power disc. So you might not have the same brake force with the drum booster. Did you swap MC too?

Typically a disc setup used a dual diaphragm booster and a drum setup used a single diaphragm booster. Discs need more pressure due to the lack of servo action that a drum brake has. But like everything there are exceptions to this in the industry.

Wife says too many cars, liquidation coming soon......

hi,

I do have a power front disc master cylinder installed. I converted to disc brakes for the front. I never have liked the feel of the brake pedal. I just realized after all these years ,maybe having the power drum booster hooked up has been my issue.thanks for the replies

Whats wrong with the feel of the brake pedal? Too hard or too soft.

hi,

brake pedal seems to have to much travel.and a little soft. I have changed everything over the years more than once and never liked the feel of the pedal.i ordered a repo power booster for disc. I may have wasted my money but I figured it cant hurt and mine is real old anyway.thanks

Is the booster you have now a small midland ross unit that has a band clamp that holds it together or the larger bendix unit that crimped together? The midland ross unit is not strong enough for disc brakes.
