I found a surprise on the Daytona I bought. The stock oil pump hits the steering linkage, where the filter mounts to the pump. The stock unit is too wide at the filter boss. The pump itself clears fine, past the universal joint.
Does anyone make an oil pump cover to use a remote filter mount, but doesn't use the circle of the stock filter/mount? I would prefer to not change the entire engine over to an external pickup system and pan. The engine is built, dyno tested, and ready to race. And it doesn't turn over 6000ish RPM.

Here is the view from the side. The engine needs to go back about 1" and down about 3/4", but it hits the steering linkage.

I made this cover a few years back. It might work for you. The lines point straight down out of the cover so you'll have to look to see if the fittings would clear your steering. The other option is to use the Milodon 21225 which routes the oil lines out the front of the block. That cover would clear your system but you'll need to invest in a remote filter. I have a CV housing sitting on the shelf if you're interested. I sold off the last of my Milodon stash last year otherwise I would've had everything you needed.

I removed an accusump and a dual remote oil filter set and replaced it with a system one oil filter.Wish I did it years sooner but we all know how that goes.Andy has a cover so it would be a snap.

I am using the internal oil pickup. I only need to have the fittings on the pump for the remote filter. These pump covers that include both the remote filter fittings, and the external oil pickup lines, can I just plug the pickup line holes? Will they then work with the internal oil pickup passages (stock/hemi)? For example, the Milidon-21225

I've never had a chassis car that didn't have the same interference. All you are going to change is the top cover. There are several on the market. The billet aluminum Milodon as already shown is a nice one.

I have never owned a 21225, but I bought the 21215 and remember it had provisions for both internal and external pickup, and either port could have been blocked off to run the other. Since it's kind of the same family of parts, I would be surprised if the 21225 was not the same.

I haven’t finished the oiling system on my head up car but it’s real tight in the oil pump area too

Hi Jim how are ya ,Nice Daytona. I saved this article a while back , it might have what your looking for. Its a 505 build that used a external pump / filter system , the articles was done in 2010 so hopefully the pump parts are available. https://www.americanmusclecarsaustralia.com/forum/index.php?topic=3526.0

As mentioned earlier, the milodon cover would be a direct bolt on. All your clearance issues would be gone with that cover. You don’t need to use that cover as an external feed.
