Hey guys,

What would need changing out on a 426-1 headed 572 Hemi if I were to swap to the Edelbrock heads? Has anyone gone from Indy 426-1s to the Eddy Victor heads?

i. plug tube lengths the same?
ii. piston valve relief due to the rotated exh valve ?
iii. TTI headers bolt up the same ?
iv. Stage V rollers ?
v. 3/8" OD pushrod clearance issues ?
vi. can I keep the current Indy valley tray ?

Anything else I may have missed feel free to chime in

Thanx

Lets see

i. the plug tubes are standard HEMI length - I run the mopar ones

ii. depending on your existing piston you may have interference as the intake valve is larger and the exhaust valve is rotated - if you have a low compression piston maybe - but you would need check it - on my 572 I have a custom CP piston at 13-1 made for the eddie heads - I think Diamond has a piston also

iii. TTI 2 1/4"headers fit on my early B no issues

iv. Stage V rollers should be no issue - but may require the use of a wider (and heavier)lash cap - I use went with the Barton rollers

v. 3/8 push rod is no problem - I run a 7/16 tapered - the vic jr. heads have a pushrod tube

vi. I do not believe the Indy valley tray will work with the Eddie Jr. heads - as they are made to utilize the china rails with the intake - I run a stage V intake

The heads flow about 430 out of the box with just a little clean-up - not much room on these to improve much above that. I would get them bare with valves and add the springs of your choice. heck of a good price for heads at this level of performance.

One of the valves in the E-heads is rotated. Depending on cam, compression, bore size, you might need to notch your pistons. Other than that, We like them a lot. Best head out there for the money.

The newer Mopar aluminum head castings are also the “E” head. I run them on my Hemi stocker. Out of the box , honed the guides put a valve job in them and assembled. Never flowed them was pressed for time. Car ran 9.89@133.00 mph 3600# IMO great cylinder heads. Everything from a factory designed head fits.

Good info fellas thank for the heads up.

Jimi that's pretty good for an OOTB deal.

So other than getting some shaft stands, it seems like they will go on ok inc my TTI header fit.

Currently have Diamond pistons and wonder if going to a 2.30 intake will work with them along with the exhaust clearance.

Hmmm

I also have these heads, with TTI headers and StageV rockers going into a 68 Hemi superstock clone, I plan on having to notch the block for intake valve clearance as I currently have a stock bore. I will be ordering my pistons from Diamond racing . Still collecting parts and Info as I go along.

What's the story on the hump just upstream of the intake guide boss in the intake port?

It’s just for added thickness under the edge of the spring pocket.

It's a piece of tubing that is installed so they can make the port bigger.

I guess the correct answer depends on which hump is being referenced 🤦‍♂️

THE MOPAR Aluminum head P5153779 is made by edelbrock - but is not the same as the Victor Jr. head - the Mopar head is 2.25" intake and is a stock replacement head - the Victor Jr. was designed around the big bore motors (4.5) but can be used on the smaller bore motors with a big valve notch

Exactly.
The only “Edelbrock” branded G2 hemi head currently available is the the Victor.

The stock replacement heads made by Edelbrock are Mopar branded heads.

So what would be the price point for a set of the Victors after a cnc job?

The only one I know of is Hughes Engines - you can look on their website - but for a set of assembled super prepped heads they list $3360 - they list the flow there also

flow tests below show results from our SAENZ 680 Flow Bench with a pipe.

Hughes must have gotten the “really good” ones from Edelbrock.

The ones I’ve tested were more like 409@.800, on a 4.500 bore.
Exhaust was 240 without a tube and 273 with a 2-1/8” tube.
