Hello everyone i hope you all had a great Christmas. Im thinking of replacing my stock ignition system with a quality after market kit. My 340 will be making 400 to 450 HP. I want a reliable street car that i can drive daily in the nice weather it has to be something that will be well suited for my engine what do you guys think is better MSD or Mallory ?, thanks for any input.

I use a Mallory billet distributor, a Rev-N-Nator ignition box, and a MSD
Blaster 2 coil, on my 418 c.i. Duster, car runs like a raped ape chasing a banana boogie

Myself,
factory electronic, a good coil and be done with it. Parts are easy to get should you need them and reasonably priced.

I run the MSD Streetfire with the MSD vibration coil, and a FBO distributor. No problems with the MSD units in three years.

OE electronic dist (dial it in). HEI module mounted under the dist. furd E coil (dirt cheap at rockauto), dont have the # offhand. Is your current curve dialed in?

I've ran and raced with MSD ignition for a long time, I'm a firm believer in using better parts than you currently need so I would say go with the MSD box and coil for the box you decide to use up
I ran the big gold race boxes (404B,404C,7,7C 7A and the current MSD7AL2 with the proper coils on all of them up) on my serious street cars devil
On your deal a MSD6AL would be my pick with your current stock ECU coil up scope Follow the directions for wiring it and the coil also thumbs

I ran Mallory for several years in my 1st Gen 392 Hemi. Kept having faliures, replace with MSD, elminated any box, no problems. Very happy with the MSD.

Find a used Mallory digital 6 box, number 685 and buy the correct coil for it and be done. It will run forever.

I have several on the shelf but none for sale. I buy all I can at swap meets for pennies on the dollar. Bought an analog 7 box with coil, a two step and two stage retard for 80 bucks. Already tested good.

80 bucks because it didn't say MSD. All the better for me.

Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston
