first time with auto trans ...B&M pro stick and cable..all gears engage except neutral.
prior to driving the car i went through the procedure of making sure each gear had no cable bind from park to first.
I can manually shift 1-2 and 2-D and get good firm shifts or just go to D and drive without any noticable slipage.
but when on a hill for example shifting to neutral the car seems to hold like its in D. hitting the reverse lockout and just barely nudging toward R and the tranny releases into neutral. there isnt much of a defined detente for neutral just seems to go up against the reverse lock out. Time to re adjust or might this be
another issue?

I've haven't used that B&M unit, yet. Most of the older B&M units I installed and adjusted needed the cable to be in the exact height spot on the tranny pan bracket to make the little adjuster drop CLEANLY into neutral, 1st, 2nd and high gear to make the tranny shift correctly and to get the shifter to put the valve body in neutral and park so the neutral safety switch would work correctly

My son and I both use the B & M Pro Stick and cable. I found out its tuff to get it perfect if you don't have the right lever on the trans. We got both of ours working good after fooling with the adjustment as we had to move it a small amount at a time. On mine and his we found to get them working good it ended up that when we go into neutral from and forward gear we have to go slightly past neutral and then back to neutral to get it all the way in neutral. That worked the best so all the forward gears hit good when racing and reverse and park work good. Ron

I sounds like you have a reverse valve body. If going from the drive positions forward and neutral is a slight bit off, what about reverse and park? How do they work? Also, if going it the direction of park to drive, does it hit neutral cleanly?
