No.Most mfgs recommending removing it.I take it youare asking about the large over center spring.Mines been gone for 20 years with my CF clutch.Just the return spring that is used on the fork is all I have.Rocky

Mine has been in 18 years with a center force no problems yet. One day you'll have an epiphany and remove the spring and say "omg, why didn't I listen and remove this thing 18 years ago" Its not about "problems" !!
