The "depth" inside these is greater than the distance from the locks up to the tip of the valve (the cap will be pushing down on the locks as opposed to touching/contacting the stem tip). Problem? (or not). (Trying to mix & match some of my "extras". thank you for your time.

Use the locks made for lash cap use, look on summit at the comp cams products.

YES that is a problem...no way you'll get away running that way. Many varieties in locks and caps available...don't cheap out on valvetrain..it'll bite you.

iagree
Do NOT use any lash cap that does not sit on the valve stem without touching the retainers tsk

Put them in the lathe or drill press ,with the chuck turning grind them with a small disc grinder to give .015-.020 clearance.Gives a good custom fit.

With those wire locks it will try to open up
the wire and drop the valve.. the caps should
be close but not touching the locks

Actually that is a regular set of locks (I see the "wire" appearance I think you mean). The tall cap does look hokey in the pic but I am trying to downsize & like alot of us, I just have too much unfinished projects/unused new/used parts & clutter.

If the cap ID is not a snug radial (annular) fit on the stem, it will rock slightly - add some clearance to the lock.

I've been sitting on these caps for at least 10 yrs & I just saw that they fit the 8MM valves in my EQ heads cuz it fit the OE 8mm used magnum valve in the pic (snug). I am haveing alot of problems with setting rocker geometry on em (high lift cam/EQ heads) & I thought that the lash caps might be an answer if needed (not likely tho).

There are "short" caps as well.

Lash caps should NEVER hit the keepers!!
