Regardless of whether or not you believe it should or can be done, has anyone ever seen or have pictures of a late model LX/LC 2005-2018 Chassis with a B/RB engine installed?

Out of dire curiosity, being someone who has a roller LC Chassis and a perfectly running Indy headed B motor...I can’t even find a single picture let alone discussion around this combination.

I did find two LC (2009 Dodge Challengers) with Gen2 Hemi’s - both cars were setup very close to Drag paks

We are considering creating a mount kit and header kit for this combination if there isn’t one. With the volume of both LC cars and spare engines, there will be a few interested parties. (Perhaps not many)

Chuck@tamrazs.com with interest or photos please.

As far as I know it hasn't been done.

Around the same time the often overlooked 5.9 magnum version of the drag pak was being validated enough to be made legal, I suggested to the powers that be...since we're using old engines that aren't available anymore, why not throw in a wedge and gen 2 version as well. They did listen, but that conversation didn't go any further.

I'm in the process of installing a 440 into a '54 flat fender Dodge Power Wagon. I realize this isn't a Challenger body but the same problems may be encountered. I will have to cut off nearly half the front crossmember to make this work, but that's okay since it's about 7" wide. The main problem is oil pump and harmonic balancer clearance, but it is doable.

I would think the LX/LC cars' strut towers would be a major interference, but I've never measured the space between them.

But the Gen 3 has the spark plugs on top and the exhaust ports angled down. Decidedly different from a BB.

I have an LX daily... I can't imagine anything fitting in there. The shop that will take this on will be comfortable with all the fabrication required - so mounts won't be something they're in the market for. Least IMO. Plus the air cleaner will be 1/2 way up the windshield...lol. The nose is LOW.

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

Well, this input has been helpful. If for nothing more than to hear what the larger consensus has to say....it’s no doubt the Gen3 Hemi is a GREAT platform, especially with the aftermarket coming along. However the Nag1 trans isn’t that great/durable, but many of the available cars aren’t HEMI powered.

We personally believe with the count of how many big blocks exist as spares, along with the VERY plentiful amount of cars out there (the many that are 6 cylinder cores) that it would be a worthwhile investment to create a market solution for this combination - engine mounting system, a 727 transmission crossmember, a full length header set, and a power interface for basics.

For one thing, the car(s) have power windows, newer safety equipment (belts etc) and modern crumple zones. They also don’t have torsion bars.

When the inventory of lightly used 2009-2014 SE and SXT Challengers reach the market (watching closely, many of these cars are just exiting long term 72 month and 84 month financing now- meaning a 2010 7 year loan is a recent entry into the used car market) guys with recent drivelines might be interested in using them in a newer chassis.

Mid 100k mile 300C’s are going for less than 4k...running and driving. Many are showing up with blown engines at a price point of less than 2k. Challengers are still holding their value the best, and Chargers are somewhere in between.

Contact Chuck @ Tamrazs Parts . Com for any interest in prototyping these parts.

If the enviro-zealots take California style emission standards anywhere else, this idea will never work. Here, you cannot do anything that defeats the original emission equipment. No engine swaps for computer cars EXCEPT to replace the same size and style engine. The computer must remain functional. These cars are totally integrated with the computer and engine control modules....Good luck getting any of the stock gauges to work or anything else electric including the ABS sensors, auto dimming rearview mirror, radio....

Be carefull of just trying to do what you think would be cool and investing too much into something that the average guy does not think is worth the effort. I do this all the time, I buy neons durangos LX cars(2.7 to 3.5 swaps mostly), fix em all up real nice then wonder why no body else is interested in buying them. Just because I like the idea of something dont mean anyone else does. I still have a soft spot for magnum stroker motors but I doubt I would find much sales making custom parts to install them in just about anything else, heck the 3.5 V6 makes 5 more HP than a 5.9 and weighs about 1/2 as much. An early 5.7 makes as much power as a HP 440 (probably a few more actually) and weighs a couple hundred less so you will need a fairly serious motor just to keep up. Also if your swapping V6 LX cars to a BB you got to find a bigger diff as well as trans as that little V6 diff aint gonna last worth a hoot behind even a stock motor home 440.
