Pulled from the 511 after a 60 mile trip to a car show. Mostly 3000rpm cruise. About 200 street miles on NGK 8's. Darkest plug is #7.

They look cold and rich but I don't really like reading NGK plugs.
Looks rich at cruise. Can't see WOT.

Unless you turn off the key while at full throttled and load at the top of at least 2nd gear, all you see on the plug is Idle.Dial in the timing 1st than fine tune the carb.
HEMI-ITIS has no cure. My condition is fully BLOWN!!

8 is a cold plug unless you have some compression. If it’s a pump gas street motor you should atleast be running a 7 if not a 6. I run 6’s in my 10.5:1 511.

unless you can blast the plugs to clean em you might just change one plug (to the right heat range) tho the heat range may or may not be right as is right now, so you dont end up with multiple sets of fouled plugs till you get it taken care of. I'm thinking carb issue.

Ok, i'll step this up to 7's. The 8's stayed clean for a long time until i took a longer trip. One at a time is a good idea. Thanks

Still have that one cylinder #7 that runs darker than the rest of the plugs while #5 burns the cleanest. #7 must be robbing fuel from #5 looks to me. I have done a bunch of reading on how to read plugs and no one says to look at porcilain burn color for mixture settings. The ring at the thread base is read for mixture and mine look pretty clean for the most part. No carbon build up there. Maybe #7 plug, but the rest look fair for a too cold of plug. What does porcilean color accually tell you besides if you have detonation or not? I will pick up some 7's and 6' and go from there. Thanks you may have fuel distribution issue with the intake manifold. single plane intake?

Take the 4 hole spacer off and see if it fixes the distribution issues.
Also, you don't have to clean cut the engine unless you are tuning for WOT. Even then, if the rest of the tune up is correct you can drive it back to the pits and still read them.

Hard to see the plug threads to count the number of threads the color change occurs at. From what I've read, it looks like its happening at the 3rd thread down from the tip, which should be ideal heat range wise.
As far as tuning for A/F mixture, buy and install a wide band and take the guess work out of it. Best tuning tool ever invented in my book.
