If you guys had to choose between Tubular Automotive and TTI 1-7/8 headers for a street car that ill take to the track every once in a while, what rout would ya go?

Used ceramic coated Tubular auto slip tube headers in really good shape, but Ill have to run adapters,

Bite the bullet and go with 1 7/8 TTI headers???

difference is around 480 bucks if I go the TTI way

Asking because Ive had bad luck in the past with adapters.

Also know nothing about the Tubular auto stuff. I did call the company and they are really cool and gave me good info, but I didn't ask him how his compare to TTI that's not a fair question to ask a guy abut a competitor.

I have seen the Auto-tube site before and it only seems to be that one page. I don’t know anybody that has there product. The site, er, page has a huge lack of information. So I can not compare! Is there header scratch built? Do you need - Can/will the do a steppes header? Lots of questions!

I have the tti 1-5/8 - 1-3/4 on my 360 in an A body. While the fit was excellent, it wasn’t perfect. It did require a ding at the manual steering box. I also grounded down the head of the bolt with hope it would clear. Close. No dice. The ding needed was very minor.

Had a buddy who had the tubular auto 1 7/8 headers on a 408 in a 72 Demon. They didnt fit too bad.
If its the ones i am thinking, one tube on the driver side slid out( slip fit)

I have ran Tubular Automotive headers for years, bought a used set, a new set years ago and am getting ready to buy a new set. I was thinking about the TTIs but heard fit isn't the greatest and they are just to expensive. With the Tubular Automotive headers I have plates for W2 heads and regular heads like an X or J head etc. Mine are 1 7/8 with a 3 1/2 collector

Having no experience with TTI headers I can’t comment on them. I do have a set of T/A headers on my ‘71 Demon (W2’s with 4spd). I had an issue with #3&5 hitting the steering shaft when I first bought them...probably about 10 years ago. They fixed the issue without any problem. They are slip fit as mentioned and have tabs to bolt the tubes together. I assume yours do as well. As with any header I’ve ever installed, you will probably have to do some “clearancing” to get to fit your car. Would I use them again...definitely.

Hey guys, anybody note how high up the collectors are underneath on the TA ones. Is there good ground clearance.

Yes mine have the tabs to bolt the tubes together, mine are just plain worn out from being apart so
many times for engine swaps etc.

Cool. Just want to be able to hook bullets up to them and keep them tight to the undercarriage.

I think those are the headers you have to cut a hole in the fender well for the 7-8 tubes.

Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

I have a saw and torches they can borrow. And a 4 pound hammer if they use the Milidon oil pan. LOL

I can't do a comparison on the headers but I do know my stepped TTI Headers fit my car with no problems. Mine have the slip on pipe for for number 7 Cyl but I have never needed to take it off during standard engine and transmission services. They slide right in from the bottom and bolt right up. If and when my wear out I will get the exact same headers again. My 2cents

My Supercomps are for a full bodied car that fit with tortion bars, not a fender well header

I have TTI 1 7/8 with W2s in an A body. They fit great, tight but great. They mention in the instructions that you need to jack the car up to install. What they do not mention is that you have to jack the car up really really really high lol.

B3442W5....I measured the lowest point of the collector to the subframe and it looks to be about 3 1/2” (collector below the subframe) on the drivers side and about 4 1/2” on the passenger side.

Our W5 TTI headers were probably the BEST out of the box headers we've ever had... bar none! (some results may vary). We've also had the Hedman Hustlers for our iron head 360 (see Pitts comment about the Milodon oil pan, had to change two tubes for fitment).

Currently run custom set of headers patterned after our Hustlers. One of the better $1400 investments on the car (W8.... not ordering those from Jegs/Summit).
