One of my daughters 69 Charger strut rods was buggered up and bent, so ordered new HD set from Mancini (part #MRE34542 for 66-71 B/E body). So they arrived and I compared them to the originals (and I know they are the originals). The Mancini rods are about 3/4" longer (pix), plus the LCA end does not fit through the LCA mounting cavity.

Anyone with experience with these?

I can measure some strut rods that came out of my 67 coronet. Not sure if they are original but they seemed to be the correct length. I had some trouble with the Moog improved design strut rod bushings. There is a metal sleeve in the center and if the doesn't sit in the k-member hole correctly it can push your LCA back.

I actually installed Hotchkis adjustable so that I could get the LCA's exactly where I wanted them. Lower control arms installed and the pivot snugged up, left the torsion bar out, moved the LCA's up to the ride height, moved them forward and adjusted the rods to fit then gave another half turn for some preload.

Check the K-member for any deformation where the strut rod bushings bolt up.

They didn't fit on my 1971 Superbee also

Unless I wanted to bolt them directly to the K Member without the backside bushings

Sucked , they looked nice and I wanted to make them work , but nothing short of a lathe

Anyways returned them for a full refund

I just purchased a set of the B body strut rods from Mancini this week. The ones I received from them are exactly like the ones you have. At least a 1/2" longer than the factory stock (68 B Body) strut rods. Haven't tried to install them.

The original poster is saying about 3/4" longer

Mine where 1/2" longer exact

Sounds like a little bit of quality control issue

No way any bushings where going in there unless they where made out of paper

The longer strut rod will KILL caster, by moving the lower control arm back.

yeah, I had a combination of weirdly seated Moog improved design strut bushings and a kmember strut rod area that was deformed a bit. It held my LCA on pass side (probably the most common side to take a curb hit) back about 3/8" and I was losing atleast 1.25* caster on that side.

Re-measured and the Mancini's are 1/2" longer than stock. The larger diameter of the rod would not fit into the LCA cavity to mate against the mounting lug, so even if it was the correct length it wouldn't work without some machining.

I bought some of these for another B body resto about 5yrs ago and they were correct length and fit perfect. Mancini has obviously changed sources since then.

Dropped a note to Mancini regarding this thread, response below

Thanks for the update. We did change vendors and told him to shorten to the
correct length.

MoParts has more pull, I just pointed them to the thread and told them they might want to look at it.

that's why i would try to have them machined, you will know they are good to go and you can move on to other things.

Why would you pay to have them machines, I'd hope Mancini would make it right?
