I'm going to run a 'glide in my Dart next year. I'm running a small block but I'd like to get your opinions on who's set-up to run. I'm looking to run an after-market case and bell housing. Who's set-up do you suggest? Build it yourself.. they're pretty easy.. if need be buy a book

I ran the JW deal for years with a stock case that was machined. Light car, not a ton of power. It worked OK. Heavier car, horsepower north of 650 or so? Might want to start to think about an aftermarket case. If I was starting from scratch today, I would use the ATI case and bell. I was never really a fan of using the pump bolts to retain the bell.
The horsepower level/car weight will determine the quality of parts you install into that case. At a minimum, input shaft, clutch hub, good valve body and frictions and built correctly for the application. The original 1.76 gear sets would take a surprising amount of abuse. The 1.82, not so much. Stock parts have about dried up though.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Reid case hands down https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rei-pg2000/overview/and there bell housing https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rei-bh060I'm going that way after running JW for 5 years had a few problems with it mostly due to a bad torque wrench but with the bell housing mounted to the pump bolts is not the best of ideas. The Reid has 8 bolts that mounts the bell housing and the pump is held in like a stock case very nice setup.
best so far 8.53 @ 158.59 MPH 60'1.240

What I meant to ask was who's case and bell housing, and why? I know it'll need good internals but for now I just need something for mock-up and the motor is not built yet. I do have a stock case glide set up for an ultrabell. That should work for mock up? Anyone have a sbm to glide ultrabell they would want to lend/rent out to me for mock up? I'd probably need it for a couple months.

Call FTI, they have good prices on cases and gear sets.

I do have a stock case glide set up for an ultrabell. That should work for mock up? To answer the question...ATI. Because, as I said, I'm not a fan of using the pump bolts to retain the bell, even though I used the JW deal with a stock case for years with no failures. The ATI - and the Reid for that matter - use a separate flange and fasteners. ATI because they are close, I know them and their stuff and their customer service is top shelf. Reid's, BTE's and others may be as well, but I'm familiar with ATI. The BTE unit may be made by Reid. I would use whatever you decide is going into the car to mock the engine/trans, just to avoid any issues. They should be interchangeable, but it doesn't always work out as it should in Moparworld.

ATI or Reid are the better pieces IMO than the JW. I ran JW stuff for years. Made the switch to Reid and ATI in our cars and would not go back. What you need internally will depend on the application but from what you say a good gearset and brake and you will be set.

I tried to stay Mopar loyal, but ended up breaking three 727's after dropping in 572 B1 motor.... Then I went to a Powerglide... Not being experienced in the conversion, I wanted to buy from one place, get good quality parts and a complete kit that is bolt-in ready.. Ended up going with the BTE Top Sportsman package which was the best price at the time.. https://www.bteracing.com/products/BTE074473Over all, I am extremely happy, but did have a struggles with the alignment of the starter, but got that figured out and now my transmission is worry free..

Thanks for all the input. I'll definitely use a Reid or Ati case for a 'glide. I was all set to do a 'glide but after a few days of looking I may go with a 3 speed t400, lol. I'll have to see what my engine builder thinks. My Dart is a 3200 lb, leaf spring, drag radial heads up car just for fun around here. We're looking to make around 17-1800 horse at the flywheel, so it'll need a good trans, lol. A 400 in 2 speed configuration may be a better choice. Starting line gear ratio has to be a major factor in what you decide to use. Too much or too little can turn a good car into a turd.
