Can anybody help me with the correct thread chaser for 8 3/4 ring gears?
A brand and part number would be awesome.
Thanks

Well....left hand threads (fine thread) in case you aren't aware. That greatly complicates the issue for a chaser.
I think they are 3/8 but I don't have them at hand to check.

McMaster-Carr has a great selection of left hand taps.

Just use an old ring gear bolt, make a few hacksaw cuts lengthway in the threaded area deeper on the end of the bolt and shallower towards the head. This should give the bolt holes a reasonable cleanout.

a very thin, small diameter cutoff wheel on a die grinder works as well for this.

Thread files work great for a stud or a bolt, but I think he's talking about chasing threads in a bolt hole.

And I'm thinking "Straight, no chaser".

Straight preferably, just to clean out the bolt holes.

For stuff like this, I use a small round wire brush made for cleaning female copper pipe before soldering and then blow out the hole with air. That way no worry about damaging the threads.
