Every time I roll up my drivers side window, the inner window seal/fuzzy that attaches at the top of the door panel pops off up in the front. I've tried to carefully crimp the stainless channel that pops on the door panel lip to prevent this, but it has not worked.

Has anyone else had this issue and come up with a fix?

Rob

Rob,

Never had this happen. Is the door glass adjusted right?

Chris

Is the door panel warped? I had an issue similar to this. The stainless would pull the panel straight but didn't want to stay on. From the inside of the fuzzy trim I drilled two very small holes into the panel and used some flat screws from an optical shop that are used for glasses frames. It worked. Sometimes one has to be creative. These cars were never put together that well anyway.

Chris and Mr. T2U - I believe the glass is adjusted correctly. But that's a good point that I'll need to check. This is happening at the front of the door, so the glass drops way below the trim as you roll the window down because of angle of the glass.

I looked at it a little closer this morning and I'm wondering if the plastic lip at the top of the door panel that the trim clips to is worn thin from the seal popping off a lot in the past. It seems like it almost wants to pop off on it's own without the window interfering.

For some reason my driver's side door panel is in worse shape than the others. Wonder if it's from a different car. But I don't think it's warped.

Rob,

The little felt guy is out of adjustment. It needs to keep the glass from catching the lip.

It doesn't effect alignment just the starting point.

The felt can get worn too, adjustment may be original/correct just need new felt. How does it look?

Yeah, my felt is worn, but the pile of the felt still looks ok...It's not totally flat or worn bald, etc. I'll have to try to re-adjust it and see if it makes a difference.

Have you guys ever tried to crimp the stainless "U" channel that clips over the door panel so it will have a tighter hold on the panel?

I ran into this very same issue. I bought the TopCat brand window fuzzies because everyone said they were the best, and all of them worked ok, except the front inner door panel seals. Mine came off when the window was rolled up and down. No one on the board had a solution that worked (https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbt...tml#Post1669624). I wound up finding a couple of good original seals off some old door panels I had, used them, no more problems. If "TopCat" is the "best available", then none are much. My .02

I read through your post...yep, that's the exact same problem I'm having.

I had the same problem and what was causing it was the metal trim on the panel is only held in place by melted plastic rivets. The metal has holes where the plastic from the panel sticks through and then they're melted to hold them in place. Mine was even slightly cracked where it wore out.

My fix was to reinstall them with two part 3m panel adhesive.

I wasn't aware there are plastic rivets holding the trim on? I thought it just slipped on over the door panel lip.

Do you have a picture?

Sorry no. The door panel has to be removed to see them. I ground mine off so I could bond the trim securely. It's not a rivet you can replace it's just extra plastic that they melt to bond them together. Cheap design. If it's like mine it's the piece or trim on the door panel that the whiskers attach to that's lose.
