Is it possible to have an NOS shaker hood trim ring without a part number embossed in it? This one I can get is believed to be NOS yet I cant find a number on it anywhere. Any tips on finding out? Thanks!

I have never seen an original without one but I suppose it's possible. Originals have the studs cast into the ring (not studs added after casting) if the studs are cast as part of the ring its likely original. Keep in mind, the casting numbers are TINY! Post pics if you can.

From what I recall the studs were cast with the ring. Felt like a heavy aluminum. Studs didn't appear to have nuts on them ever. Don't recall a part number as hard as I looked. It was in primer.
Are there any aftermarket known of that had the studs cast in?
I don't want to get burned buying it.

Here is an original, compare CLOSELY, I am guessing the one you found is a reproduction.

The rings we made were as good as it gets, however, they had part numbers and the Penta Star. I'm guessing it's a PG Classic, made from the same tooling as ours. Easiest way to tell, the threads on the studs are 10-32, originals were different. If the ring is from our tooling, use it, it's about as perfect to an original as it gets. I've seen our rings being sold as "NOS" on ebay.

I'll try to get pics and look at it again. I'm going off memory of the last time I saw it. My first thought was reproduction at first but various things about it made me unsure.

If it was your tooling how did someone else make parts off it?

The tooling was exclusive to us, under contract, for the production run of 400 licensed rings I made for Goodmark when they were going to make the Cuda shaker hood. They were also thinking about making Challenger rings, they pulled the plug on that one.

Is that OK?

When BEA was at Carlisle one of the salesmen told me the 2 companies are 'manufacturing partners'.

BTW, I can vouch for Mike's Cuda rings, they were very accurate and had the part# and Pentastar, extremely high quality parts unmatched by any other effort before or since!

I spend a lot of time working in China so I'm cautious when someone makes parts off tooling I paid for to create knockoffs.
