Haven't run across this intake until your showing this. To be able to stick with branding and have the same performance is actually a great option. It is cool - more expensive or not
Sorry man after I post that I did some research to find one of those for a B block and I can't find one. They must not make them for a B block. Sorry.

I'm kinda with Russ on this one........ although there really didn't seem to be enough info for me to recommend anything.

Is the motor going in a 3/4 ton truck with exhaust manifolds, a 12" converter and 35" tires that you'll be using to haul your bass boat around?

Or, is it going in a gutted out old bracket race A body with plastic windows and 4.56 gears?

Or something else completely?

Yeah - it's pretty old, but so am I haha.... and I thought it would work decently until I looked into the plenum. There's a lot of wide open space with nothing to direct the fuel and air which is why I started this thread up

It's going in a '73 Cuda that's been tubbed and subframed with a narrowed rear end. It was previously a drag car and has a 10 point cage in it (i want to remove part of the cage, but not sure how to go about that without having a negative effect on chassis stability)
I'll be running 15" tire in the rear with a 3.55 gear. I haven't picked a converter yet, or a carb, and I will be running headers and maybe you can help me with some suggestions on that. I hope to eventually upgrade to aluminum heads but I am trying to keep the spending on track so I will do that later. I will not be all out racing but I do want it to run good.
Right now I am upgrading the axles and brakes. The engine is next so I am trying to get all my parts and pieces together so I will have everything ready to bolt on and drop in.
thanks!

edit; 28" x 15" tire

For that build, I would consider any of these suitable;

-RPM
-Holley SD
-m1 single plane
-original Torker
-TM6

And fwiw, if this is strictly a "race car", I'd put a bigger cam than that in it if it were me........ And then more gear along with it.

It would have been interesting to see how that old Weiand intake would have done in that old magazine shoot-out.

I actually probably will not have this car on any track. I am deconstructing it back to street use and I intend for it to be a cruiser but, of course, I want it to run good - especially from traffic light to traffic light grin

Have any idea how old this intake is? If you want to test it, I'll be happy to send it to you. Otherwise I'll ebay it "vintage mopar intake" lol

I have run the dual quad version of those old Wieand intakes.

Throughout the many years, most of the uninformed and unexperienced laughed at it. When they saw how the engine performed; several said they needed to get one of those for themselves.

We ran the dual quad version in a 1975 Dart race car, a 1979 Chrysler 300 with a 440 swap, and in an old rail(front engine dragster)for about 19 years.

As for the single quad, I used to always sell them very easily to the really old school guys for about $90. They were always happy with them.

I bought a 1972, 440 clone of a 1971 Roadrunner that had this intake on it. The car ran fine, and blew the tires off of the car at highway speeds. The car was rotten and was only bought to harvest the new build, high compression, 300 mile 440/727. This engine got the dual quad Wieand and went into the rail.

Too many cars, too many parts, too little coin, too little space to work in, too little time left to make it all happen! Update: down to one ride, still too many parts, a little more jingle in the pocket, gaining space, and it's going to happen this year!

That's some good info! Thanks !

Don't want to high jack thread, but is the Indy dual plane mainly intended for stroker motors? I have one on a basically stock 440 with headers and a 4 speed. Got the intake real cheap so that's how I ended up with it.

Go to Edelbrock's website and look up the proposed intake and scroll down below it. They give some dimensions and the method to measure it. That way you can compare it to what you have.

For a street only build, I'd revise my list down to the RPM.

However, after seeing the review of your old intake...... Sounds like it might be worth trying.
After all, you already own it...... And if you don't like it, they're easy to change.

Yes, I checked the operating ranges of the intakes and see the rpm is good for 5500 which is plenty. You're right, I guess if I try this intake and I don't like it, all it will cost me is some gaskets. But chances are if I put it on there, I'll leave it! lol

I would say no. I run one on my 440/493 and I bought it from Dwayne Porter. And from what I remember its like the EZ heads which is that it comes in standard port size. But you can open them up to Max Wedge size by just porting them about 3/4 inch deep. I believe they are Max Wedge runners and are sized down at the port opening to standard port size about 3/4 inch deep. And thats why you only need to port them about 3/4 inch deep. Ron

Maybe elaborate on "stock '72 400" for us.

It's 100% stock, 2bbl, running, low compression motor pulled from a 1972 Chrysler Newport. The engine runs great. I'm going to put in cam, 4bbl intake, and carb, oil pan and valve cover gaskets, new water pump and alternator, upgrade distributor, paint it mopar blue, drop it in the barracuda and rock on until it croaks.

In my experience this intake kills torque on a 'warm' 383 with a slight cam, holley, and headers. So much that the car ran harder from a stop with the stock intake and 3.23's than with the SD and 3.91's.

Is the Weiand substantially different from the db4b or Offy 360? (I assume yes from the offy which sucked in that comparo)

I'll stick with my DP4B/Performer recommenddation.

Which one? Low rise dual plane? 8006 or something?
