Anyone mount their turbos in their fenders? I am trying to hack the least amount of inner fender out of my challenger. I don't have much room with a gen II hemi an e body.

Thanks,

Josh

Do you think the fenders will hold it for very long before cracking around the mounting bolts shruggy work tsk twocents

Of course not. Appropriate mounts will be built.

Your question was not clear to me at first, so your question really centers on are the inner fenders robust enough to survive if you relieve them enough, to allow room for an engine mounted turbo, correct?

I've thought about that too. Plates and fabricated mounts would do wonders. I think heat and airflow would be the question. Anybody know?

I wanted to mount them behind (outside behind the tires) the fender so I have room in the engine bay. I have a cage to to build mounts off of as well. I have seen them on vettes and other brand x cars just never on a mopar.

Seems with a cage and front down bars you have a lot more options retaining some front end stiffness lost by losing some front end inner fender material. However, it seems not very popular? from my readings to remote(?) mount a turbo vs engine mount, due to expansion issues, longer hot side, etc. if I understand your solution. work

If your working on a E body Challenger(1970-74) I would look at mounting them up near the radiator core support on the front sub frames so the exhaust pipe would exit the engine compartment in front of the front tires, not behind them work shruggy Closer to the inter cooler mounting also if it, intercooler, is mounted in front of the radiator shruggy
If the intercooler will be air to liquid mounted in the car then the turbo mounted further back will be closer to the intercooler shruggy

^^^Also you probably can use the extra weight on the frontend to keep it down^^^

You want to mount the turbos to the body or frame instead of the engine? Unless you have solid mounted eng/trans and absolutely 0 movement you'll have trouble, even with flex pipes I would think. I'll also say my home made kit on my Fury needs to 'move' around quite a bit when installing/removing and definitely moves around when operating - but it's all hung off the engine (brackets and all)

Can always do a rear mount, or if you can fit them mount them low by the Trans like the kit for the new chargers and challengers.
