I agree with Greendart. Looks like a Cat number on the rocker too. You are most likely correct. I didn't see the bearing on my first look. But, I can't see [censored] right now as my glasses are junk. Won't be fixed til late January. Cat and HS are the only ones I remember making a rocker like that.

Thanks for the replies. It's hard to tell if there's a roller bearing in there, but rockers with no load are looser on the shaft than you'd expect with a plain bearing (like Crane), so I think they're rollers. I'll pull them off in the next couple days, as one has a questionable pin on the roller tip. I have Harland Sharps on the on my other car and they are beyond reproach.... these just don't seem the same build quality. MadMopars, I may be hitting you up for some spares....

The 1.5's puked the shaft bearings as seen in the first pic so I replaced them with all new bearings and used them for a bit longer. Later I switched to 1.6's and after 500 miles, the pins let go and ended up breaking several rockers. That failure could have been ALOT worse. Luckily it didn't drop the valves. I contemplated putting the 1.5's back on in a pinch but found a couple of the roller pins were loose on them as well. I won't chance using them again. It's your choice though. If you absolutely need some spares, let me know but it wouldn't be my first choice.

It's pics and stories like that, that continue to keep me from using Chinese rockers.
My go to "budget" rockers are the Mancini/Harland's.

Why do guys get so thrifty on rockers, in general not a personal question, some guy will spend the money on big cubes and buy the cheapest set of rockers found. It's something I've never understood.

I went straight from Crane non roller shafts to TDs and after the first set of Crane rockers being labeled wrong I havent had any issue with rockers or the valve train.. up to 9600 rpm EDIT I still have 2 sets of the Crane rockers and 3 sets of different TD rockers.. all for SB

In all fairness, the CAT rockers on my motor were probably one of the most expensive parts sadly.
If I still had the 292/509 cam instead of the 296/557, I may have just put the stock rockers back on.
I did buy a new set of the 1.6 Crane Ductile Irons earlier this year but have yet to install them. I'm not sure when or if I'll screw around with roller rockers again. To many disappointments with geometry, strength and cost. Since the cam I am using is bigger than that I only foresee disaster. I got the car for a reasonable price, so it's worth it to drop a grand on some Harland Sharps to keep an otherwise good motor together. I've always wondered about those really inexpensive roller rockers... now I know.

Edit: and I would tell T&D to leave the bearings out and just run the rocker on the shaft. They will [censored] about it, but they will do it.

How big is the cam, solid or roller, what spring pressures?
