Basically , yes. I have a 524/507 MP Hyd cam now, would like to get something close in a solid grind .Street/Strip Hemi Just put solid lifters on that cam and lash it at .002 and run it.

Can this be done ? I know the pushrods are different length. Has anyone here done it before ? Thanks. It's done all the time. You can put solid rollers on a hydraulic core. It's not even a new thing. Been done for years. It will make more HP, RPM higher and be just as reliable. Screw hydraulic lifters. All of them. Lash it at .002 and go.

Ask your cam guy about the relative accel of hyd vs solid ramps, but hold the phone away from your ear because he's going to yell at you.

I'm confused here..this a hydraulic flat tappet cam ,not a hydraulic roller cam , maybe I can just have a cam ground to the same specs as a solid lifter type . You could get a roller with the same specs but why.. you could get something a bit better... and what was said before no you cant put a roller lifter on a hyd flat tappet cam

I went back a reread the first post. I have no idea where I got the roller cam idea from.
So no, don't put a solid flat tappet on a hydraulic grind.
But you can use solid ROLLER lifters on a hydraulic ROLLER cam.

Just talk to Dwayne Porter (fast68plymouth) who already responded on here. He is one of the best cam person's out there and can grind a custom cam for you. I used a solid flat tappet that I got from Dwayne as I told him my car was a pump gas street car and I wanted a solid cam that had a nice kinda lumpy idle and made good power and had to keep my cyl pressure pump gas friendly. He speced the whole cam as he speced the lift , duration , LSA and gave me the recomended installed centerline. He had the cam ground for me to the specs he recomended and it has been working great for over 5 years in my eng. I have been a tech all my life and know a good bit about cams but I am no pro like Dwayne is when it comes to cams. He does it all the time everyday and every car I see with his cams in them always run great. You cant go wrong by calling and talking to Dwayne as you can call him at 802-951-1955. Good luck with it , Ron
