I just looked up the Eastwood 135. Specs look better, 125 Amp max with 20% duty cycle at 90 Amps, had an adjustable regulator, and is on sale for $259.99 (price seems too good?)
Get some solid core wire and a bottle of 75/25 CO2/Ar will give you nice clean welds. Flux core wire is ok, and should be used in areas where wind can blow the gas shield away, but it spatters quite a bit, and burns a bit hotter than the gas shield which is important when working with thin sheet metal.
If you plan to weld often, you will likely outgrow these smaller welders, but the next cost point is at least double the cost of these entry level welders.

Thanks! Ordering the Eastwood!

Will upgrade when I get the shop addition and 220 in

You did not say what you are welding?
Eastwood says this comes with the 0.023" wire which is good for thinner steel. I think it can also accept 0.030" wire for thicker stuff.
Use brand name wire. Some of the cheap off-band wire can cause problems that you may blame the welder.

I checked again and shipping to MO is an extra $25 :P So much for free shipping.

Yes, definitely get a welder that can do both sizes.

The Eastwood looks interesting...higher output than the Lincoln....

If you get a good 110 model, make sure it's on a dedicated 20 amp circuit with 12/2 wiring. My Century welder pulls a lot of amps & does just fine for a 110V. Also, make sure you have a full range of adjustments for wire speed & heat, not just 3 position lo, med, & hi click, click, click. You need to be able to fine tune the settings!

I just ordered the Eastwood mig welder myself.
They consider it "Heavy" as far as shipping, that kills the free shipping ($24.10 shipping).

The ATD mig welder (110 volt) I've been using for the last 33 years still works but has seen better days.
It's obsolete (was British made) and parts are no longer available.
I've patched it up (Miller trigger and hose) and replace other parts in it.
I paid $350 for it new back then. laugh2

I figure it was time for a new one.

For the $200 price I decided I shouldn't put off buying a new one anymore.

I use it for bodywork/sheet metal at a hobby type level so it should be fine.
I've already got the Argon/CO2 gas bottle from the current welder, so I'm set there.

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

Thanks for the heads up on this.

Pricing varied from 199$ and up depending on when I added it to my cart so I used the above referenced code and it knocked it down to 199$ plus I'm a cheap skate and added the <10% email coupon knocking it down to 179.99 + shipping. All in 194.99$ delivered.

I realize it is not a "pro machine" but they sell a ton of them to hobbyists and most reviews are favorable.

Enjoy!

It is 10PM here Pacific time and I just checked the link and it is still good. I even was able to get free shipping, but did not buy it, cause I bought there 175 Amp one a few months ago, just wanted to see if the good price was still working.

Hobart Handler 140. Nice 110 mig welder, look at the reviews online.

If you want to go pricey Miller Multimatic 200. Its a multiprocess welder, mig, tig, stick. It adjusts from 110v to 220.

Agree on the gas shielding, its a must! Nothing worse than weld spatter. If you use the MIG for sheet metal 110v is fine. If you plan to weld aluminum or thick 1/4"+ plate, you'll need the 220v.

I really hate to order heavy stuff like that online and have it shipped because it always seems to get damaged in some way. I usually try to find something local.

Ordered one on Sat. FedEx dropped it off today! Fastest I think I've gotten any thing that was shipped. Came from Reno, 66 lbs according to the box.
