Went to fire up my Daytona & it would not keep oil pressure. Pull the distributor gear & prime it pressure would return. Thought I had the wrong length gear. Nope brand new Melling oil pump was bad. Snapped off right where it is machined for the O ring which caused the internal piece to jam & break as well. Has anyone had any issues, going to send it back to Mancini for a refund. Bought one locally so I could fix the issue. Never had an issue in the past w/Melling products, worries me now. Any feedback would be great.
Thank you, Ken

Every pump or shaft I've seen break had something stuck in the rotors.

For the twenty five years I have gotten in the habit of pulling new pumps apart and blending the ports and passages. Two years ago I had gotten a new Melling HV pump for my 452 and the passage in the cover to the filter was barely open. The turn is the intersection of two drill operations, both were done short. the rest of the pump looked fine so I just opened and blended the turn. I've always wondered how many guys just bolt this stuff on and assume its good.

Have a great day

Ten years ago the QA/QC stuff I could see with my eyes and simple measuring tools was terrible. Not hard to believe that the rest is crap too.
