I'm trying to pick a set of wheels for the 72 Duster Dad's putting together. I can work with a 5.5 b/s 15x10 on the rear and get away with a 29" or so tire.
I have converted to a wilwood disc brake kit on all 4 corners and have 3" studs in the axles and rotors.
Car should be solid low 11's with the 416.
I have found a set of wheels on Summit that will work for what I need and the price is good but they are set up for a 60 degree conical seat.
Any issues with using them? Anyone make a 1/2 conical lug nut that is open end or am I looking at cutting a set?
I just got a bad feeling these may not pass tech if I decided to take it to the track a few times...

I'm running 60deg conical lug nuts on my Belvedere. Bought the open end lug nuts at Summit. I believe Gorilla is the brand.

Have had no issues. Car weighs 3940 and has been 11.08 at 121.

Ok

Conical seat wheels here. Open lug nuts are no problem to find, and there is no tech issue that I'm aware of with them.

I pulled the trigger on the wheels and added these too... https://www.summitracing.com/parts/GOR-45088-20

4 wheels with lugs delivered to the door for less than $500.00 works for me right now... up

Next...tires... runaway

He wants drag radials after having slicks on the 69 Dart and he wants them to have tread.
I want about 28.5-29.5" tall and about 10" wide that are sticky enough to hook hard with a front tire that will have near the same tread and sidewall markings... shruggy

Will you have the clearance for the 29 tires

71 demon stock stroke 440/indy ez-1 running 10.10 @ 132.14 mph in the 1/4 and 6.36 @ 107.46 mph in the 1/8 not in the same weekend but It did it then I sold it.
67 Belvedere that worked it's way in the 10's

Eldon check out the build thread...I posted a few pics there. Here is one with the almost 30" tall tires from the back of Satellite. 275/60/17 on 9.5 wheels.
Second pic is the 27.5 bias tires on 7" wheels
29's should be OK...29.5 may be pushing it...

Sounds like you're talking about a set of 275 drag radials. There are a few out there, I like Mickey T's. Their ET Street S/S Radial sounds like what you're looking for, and although they won't match perfectly, paired with a set of Sportsman S/T's or Sportsman S/R's up front will offer a matched look.

I'll check out the thread but that 29 does look close especially if you do a burnout

Eldon the pic of the big tire is almost 30".
I ordered the wheels and lug nuts yesterday morning from Summit and they were here today at 3:30... up
I took a rear down and bolted it up...I don't see any issues...If these were available in a 6" b/s I may have went that route but it would be pushing the envelope at the leaf spring.
I like the lug nut design...with the thickness of the wheel they could actually be closed on the end as they stick past the studs about 1/4"...
Thinking about getting a pair of the MT tires...With the 4.56 gear I'm a little hesitant to go as big as a 29" thinking it may want a little more gear at the stripe...Then again this 416 should pull a lot harder than the 340 that's in the Dart... shruggy runaway
