My local auto parts store does not have the freeze plug kit, but they have the plugs individually in bulk.
Does 1 5/8" sound right for the block sides?? and 2 9/64" seem right for the rear of the cam journal??
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks, Jeff

(6) 1 & 5/8 and the rear cam plug might be a special one (the shape), a Mopar item and I'm sure it is a different dia. Some freeze plugs, the depth of em is way thinner than others. get the good ones

My local auto parts store got them for me. They are Dorman and they are available as shallow or deep plugs.

they are 1&1/4 on SB & might be the same on BB & parts house Dormans are fine. I've seen the thin ones & I dont know it they are just cheap or if they are for a non automotive specific app but get the deep ones. EDIT brass (all I had on hand for extras) but the depth is the same

Well, I got the 1 5/8" and they fit perfect. He also had the deep ones but I got the shallows as they were the same as what was in there originally.
The deep ones look like they might be easier to get in straight and possibly seal a little better.
Thanks for all the replies.

Correct but the deep ones are harder to remove.

I guess you would have to knock then in further to remove, possibly hitting the cylinder.

Near as I can tell, on B/RB the cylinder head sides take 1 1/4, and the ends appear to be 1".Please correct me if wrong.
