Motor is done. Paint is done. Interior is done. Looking to do a nice wheel setup on my 1966 Plymouth Satellite. Currently running 245/60/15 moonies in the rear and 225's in the front. Looking to put some deep dish Forgeline RB3C's all the way around.

Preferably I'd be interested in 315's in the rear but don't know where to start. Do I need a leaf spring relocation kit, mini tub, not sure what y'all have done to get some 315's to fit back there? Ideas???

Thank you for the help.

Welcome aboard! The first thing I would do is see how much clearance you have on each side of the sidewall and the rim clearances also. at lock to lock each way. Others with more exp in that area will chime in. Likely those tires you have in mind will have a listed sidewall dimention

I haven't done this to a 1966 or 67 Plymouth yet but I did move the springs in on my 1966 Dodge Coronet Deluxe two door sedan and had the 1/4 panels stretch three inches in the front of the wheel wells(before I had the car painted) so I could run 275x60x15 Cooper Cobra radails on a set of 8.5x15 wide rear steelie Mopar wheels on the rear and a set of 6.5x15 stock Mopar OEM wheels on the front. I bought a set of the Mopar XHD road handling rear springs with the shorter 20 inch front segemnets to move the rear end forward two inches to center the bigger tires in the wheel wells now shruggy The front edge of the inner tires are close to the stock inner wheel tubs so I may end up needing to massage them some to get more clearances hammer shruggy
I had a truck Dana 60 narrowed down and had new 8 3/4 - Dana 60 passenger car axle ends put on it so I could run the stock backing plates and stock type drum brakes in the back along with a new set Dr Diff 35 spline axles up
I have a 1967 Satelite BB car that I may do in the future after I finish this car and two others luck realcrazy

I think you would need a mini tub for anything with more than a 12 inch section width. You MAY be able to fit something slightly less without it, I am planning to attempt it next time I buy tires for my '67, pretty sure I can make it work. Tires I'm looking at are 11.8 section width (275/L60 bias) but its going to be TIGHT and require alot of backspacing. Not sure if it will actually fit but based on my math its the largest I can go. I've got SS springs too which helps.

Of course I'll be measuring more carefully when I actually get ready to buy them, but IMO 12 is the max. You're trying to fit almost 13, I don't think it will work without some modification.

Moving springs inboard is only part of the solution on the '66-67 B-bodies...you also have to worry about trying to get the wheel/tire actually on the car via tilting the wheel/tire and trying to stuff it in.

Stretching the panels out and narrowing the rear is really needed as well to stuff something big in there.

To get even a 275/60/15 on these is a pain...and usually means jacking up the car via the frame to allow the rear to hang as low as the spring will allow, and then also putting a bottle jack on the rear and jacking it further down.

Get If you get a flat on the hwy you are calling the Hook..

You are going to have to relocate the rear leafs to the frame rails and tub it. I would completely remove the stock wheel tubs and put in aftermarket ones to get full tire clearance from frame rail to quarter panel.

If you have a 66' B-body and are running wider tires, i'd like to see some photos to go off of. I've never done a mini tub before, so looks like I'll be doing a lot of research over the next few weeks. Once I get it done, I'll show y'all the before and after shots.

I suspect you'll need the following at a minimum:

- Narrow the rear end housing and cut axles to match. While doing this, move spring perches in board to suit your setup

- Widen the stock tubs to suit or add aftermarket tubs

- Move leaf spring spring mounts to the correct new width

- EM

G'Day TAC.

You say 315's but do you have a specific size in mind? Being that you mentioned Forgelines, I doubt you are talking 315/60-15's, which are different that 315/40-18's.

The dished look you are after will likely require a narrowed rear, but you do not need a narrowed rear to simply run a wider tire.

the 66-67 B bodies have a restrictive wheel opening, you are only able to fit a ~28" tall tire without stretching, trimming, hacking the wheel opening. Relocating the springs and tubbing are necessary for the width.

On my 66, Springs are relocated, fabricated tubs, 70 B-body width rear

Pics in order are:
315/60-15 on 15x10 w/ ~7.625 BS
325/50-15 on 15x10 w/ 7.5 BS
295/55-15 on 15x10 w/ 7.5 BS
same

Although mine is an E Body. No way you are going to fit a 315 without relocating the springs and a mini tub. I had to do both of those mods on my Challenger. Here is a 315 on a 12" wide wheel.

Do not compare any A B C Or E body wheel wells with 66-67 B body wheel wells...

Agreed, just saying mine are larger and I still had to mak the mods to make it all work.

These are great shots. Thanks for sharing. After looking further into it, the specific size i'm after will probably be somewhere around a 295/30/18 rear and maybe 235/35/17. I need to measure the offset and get this project going!

Lovin' the photos of y'alls setups.

Where there is a will, there is a way up

Sorry for the shadows...fab'd tubs to the outside of the framerail

Fuel cell not necessary, but makes room for tailpipes with the relocated springs

i ran 325/50's on my 66 belvedere but we had to work to get em in there, we swelled the body out 1.5", cut the front edge of the body forward the inner fender edge to and i moved the springs in 1.5" or so and built a dana 60 that was wider, i ran a 4.5" backspaced 8" wheel. it looked great but that was all of the tire that you could get under it, next to a friends stock 66 you couldent tell the differance in the swelled rear wheelwells

I have 325/50/15 on my 67 Coronet. It has the leaf springs moved in and the inner wheel wells split to the frame. It is 1.5"-2" lower than stock. You are welcome to come and look at the car and take measurements. I live in Argyle, TX.
