Hoping some of you street race guys can chime in about setups for racing on true unprepped roads.
Not talking about roll racing, stop light racing, etc... True trans brake release 1/8 mile stuff.
I am going to be doing the Roadkill event on Woodward in 2 weeks.
I'm GUESSING that the boost controller needs to get turned down, two step RPM down as far as I can get it, and loosen the rear shocks up to match the new lower "hit" power.
How about down track? How do you guys know how much power to pour into it, and how fast you can pour it on?
Will the track simply take a g-force limit, and you try to tune the power to get near that through 1st gear?
Power taken out on the 1/2 shift to keep it from spinning the tires?
Unfortunately I race this thing on radials which is obviously not the best marginal track tire, but I at least did buy a brand new set of 275 Pro's for the event.
Love to hear from some of you guys... PM's ok if you want to keep quiet about it.

Yes A Bias ply tire would be best I am sure. Here is a pretty amazing vid of an 8.50 car getting down the street with Megasquirt traction control. https://youtu.be/FembJNagxOE

Put some pinion angle in the rear. I had mine down on my old Duster about 5 degrees( with S/S springs) and the thing hooked on ice. Made a huge, huge difference just adding that shim.

I thought about leaving in 2nd, but unfortunately my TB won't work in anything else but 1st. I need the TB to build boost.
The motor is pretty weak without the turbo, so it will definitely hook if I turn it down far enough. Just trying to use as much of everything I got to get the car down the track quick.

Any means to fix ballast in the trunk? you are heavy enough, but it might help the initial transfer so you can ramp the power in. There are plenty of spots in "Mexico" where people test...

I run the 315 drag radials, big engine, little cam, lots of low end grunt. I put 300 lbs, weight in the trunk, and left in second gear. In Kansas City the track started out pretty slick, but was starting to come around later on in the day. Wheelspin was not a problem later on in the day, kinda wish I would have tried a low gear launch. Lack of a power adder is what cost me the win. A dialed in turbo car is hard to beat, but a Nox car is what got to me. Better have your cooling system in top shape. Good luck. farnboy was in the money with a 3rd place finish (despite a 3 way tie for 1st and being 2-0 against the eventual winner) at the Roadkill Nights in KC, FYI.
