NO,,,,,,,it is a 1964 413 RB block, and I want to use 440 pistons in it, but am questioning if there is enough block there to bore it safely

I heard they used to bore 413's to take 426 wedge pistons and that was as far as you could go.

413 = 4.1875 bore
426 = 4.25
440 = 4.32

Boring a 413 to take standard bore 440 pistons would be like boring it .13 over, that's a huge overbore. A 426 piston would need a 413 bored a hair over .060 over.

The bore is .133" larger & there would be some core shift

Okay, makes sense the way you say it, only in 64, the block casting number is the same for 413, and 426, and I was thinking that they had .060 over pistons for the 426, which has you getting in the range of the 440

You might contact egge machine shop & see what they have(or can make). It would not be cheap but to get a 413 up & running it might be something to consider.

You can ask the question 600 different ways and the answer will be the same .

The only way you will know exactly how far the block can be safely overbored is AFTER a SONIC CHECK .

in the old days it was quite common to bore a 426 +.070 over and use standard bore 440 pistons. as a matter of fact i have a 1964 426 in the garage right now that was done that way.

but as John said, it's best to sonic test the block before doing any excessive boring to see just what you can do.
