We took our 84 Trans Am out for our 1st 24 hours of LeMons race at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Weather was nice except for the late gail winds that sent a canopy leg into my ear causing excessive bleeding... The car handled great but had some electrical issues (wanted to break up in 4th-5th) Fixed that and the car was rolling by people. Changed drivers and the car fell off some (electrical issues again) This time we found out the + battery post had some issues fixed that Sunday morning only to start it and find a rod knock. Time for a 350. The tired 305 (170k) ran well. We past most of the 350 cars. Enjoy this video has almost no sound so if ou want to hear anything turn it up. The "in-car" are LOUD if you look close (8:30 mark) you'll see a 70 4 door Valiant, the only mopar in the 120+ car field I think. LeMons

That looks like fun. That was actual race video? Seemed like respectful driving on everyone's part. up
That Mopar needs to check in on this forum and get some real TB's. grin

Are the Dart guys the ones that made it look like a SpaceShuttle or something? If so, they are regulars over on SlantSix.org.

The green Valiant was the only Mopar I saw, except for maybe a Neon. It is a blast, our car is a tad more racey than most. This is WAY more fun then drag racing for sure. I highly recommend it. LeMons is more laid back, Chumpcar is more competitive. If anybody needs info check the websites. Or if you are near a track, swing by and check it out. Most teams love to talk about their junk.
here's the in-car when it was running good.

Thanks Mr. Yuck for bringing us here. I'm the one running the Green Valiant (225 /6) with the "Nautical handling package"

Here's a writeup that has our previous race's results in it:
http://www.roadkill.com/v6-mustangs-dominate-lemons-south-peugeot-504-diesel-not-much/

The car:

We're in DIRE need of suspension improvements. The car is running F-body spindles/brakes, a stock six with an Offy intake/Holley 2bbl, and an open rear. I'm really looking to get a posi rear, sway bars, and stiffer T bars in before our upcoming races in the fall.

I've been eyeing this one as the price keeps dropping...

How does that work with the budget?

T-bars, front sway bar, and a good set of shocks will make a world of difference. We spun a bearing and didn't make the race Sunday.

LeMons you MUST keep track of everything. You can bring your car down to zero then every you spend starts to add up (less safety parts)
Chumps is a little different, you start at a set value, you can also go down to zero but they have set prices for added parts. Headers are $50, anything in the valve train is $100, Intake/carb $100...suspension is where they will really hammer you. Everything must be OEMish.
Both are fun, Chumps is more agressive with much faster cars BUT there are about 1/2 the cars on the track as LeMons.

Throwing this out there. If the car already has a front bar, get another stocker and strap them together. Should be cheaper and eaisier than sourcing a larger single that fits.

With the /6 you probably wont need a posi once you get springs and sways under it. You'll have a bunch more traction on that inside rear tire.

X2. I've done the double bar mount before. It does step things up significantly and does so with throw away parts.

What bar sizes are you running in the pics?

Great suggestion! Unfortunately the car has zero bars on it now, just lowered torsion adjusters, flipped rear spring perches, and basic silver kyb shocks.

Btw, here's the car as it sat abandoned in a friend's yard 2 months before its first race:

I'd think you could pick up a front sway bar pretty cheap for that thing. A rear sway bar might help too.You might also want to add a heavy spring to each leaf. I'm sure those old /6 springs are tired.
