Anybody have a picture of an early Dakota with cop car wheels. I just bought a 1990 that has some horrible after market wheels and a spare set of the cop car wheels. Thanks!

There was a gen 1 Dakota around here years ago with them. IIRC, it looked a little goofy as the backspacing was wrong and they stuck out to far.

Wheels rarely stick out TOO far! wink

There should be a good dish to a wheel, unlike ALL factory Dakotas that look like toys instead of trucks. Mine had daisy wheels! Gads! How sad!

Cop car wheels will put the tires at the outer edge of the fenders, at the top of the tire. Dakota body's curve under as they go lower, you will be constantly kicking up stuff and covering the bottom 1/2 of the truck body (worse then the standard Dakota already does). I think the cop wheels look good on a Dakota. Gene

Well they can't be as bad the wheels that are already on there. I can't believe I can't find one picture with either regular steelies or cop car rims! Anyway, I will pull one off this weekend and check the back spacing, the rims on there stick out quite a bit already and I don't like the look.

Pulled the ugly wheels and they a 3 3/4 inch backspacing. So at least with the cop steel wheels it will bring them in another 1/2 inch. So I might swap the rubber and see how it looks.

OK, first picture, the red 93 Dakota 4x4 with the standard 15 x 6" Dakota wheels and 235-75-15 tires.

Picture 2 The black coupe is my 48 Plymouth under construction. This is a 90 Dakota 2 wd drive Dakota frame. The front wheels are standard issue 15" x 6" Dakota wheels, the rear wheels are standard rear wheel drive car 15 x 6 1/2" off an 80s 5th Ave. All the tires on the coupe are 235-75-15 radials also. You can pretty much see the difference in the offset. The cop wheels will have the same offset as the 5th Ave wheels.

I would put one of the 5th Ave wheels on the 93, but its 6 lug & the 5th Ave was 5 lug. Gene
