I had a loose lifter bore in my Mega block last winter after 8 seasons of use and had a local shop install a bushing to fix the problem. All the other bores seem to be ok. It seemed to fix the problem(tightened it up) but I noticed that my oil pressure was a little low on the return road(10-15 lbs last year. The car ran good.
I am getting ready to put motor back in for this year and noticed that the lifter bore is loose again!!!There is obvious wear near the bottom of the bronze bushing. I am thinking that it was installed incorrectly.
Where in Central Pennsylvania can I get someone to do this correctly?
Thanks Mike

I probably done a hundred blocks, and to my knowledge, none ever loosened up. Have you checked if there was an issue with the cam, that may be causing the wear. Those bronze bushings rarely wear out.

I'm wondering if you don't have a problem with that particular cam lobe or cylinder. Might have something going on with the valve spring or rocker arm or such.

Don't think it was a problem with the cam as it has been in the motor for 7 years prior without issue. Machine shop always goes over my springs every year and the rockers are Jesel 1.7 that are only 2 years old. What should I look for that would send up red flags?
Are there different types of bushings that they can replace this one with? Maybe one more durable?

The bushings should be a nickle bronze or ampco 45 (trade name)
Is the bushing the same colour/shade?

it may be when the lifter bore was machined the end mill could have had a burr or have been dull. i had this happen before on a chevrolet the end mill was dull and actually drilled .002" bigger so i ordered bushings from bhj with a bigger od. that engine has been is a street/strip car for 6 years no problems.

The bushing is bronze colored.
It was much tighter when installed last year.

"ordered bushings from bhj with a bigger od"
Jim could you elaborate who bhi is so I could check things out with them?
