Most likely the timing cover gasket is leaking or it could be corrosion of the cover itself. Check bypass hose too. Also check your oil for signs of coolant too. Mike

why would you think it's dry , the cover is part of the cooling system , the water pump bolts directly to it and has a cavity and passages filled with coolant .

But first check for a leaking hose above that point ?

I wish it was a hose, but I can see a geyser of coolant coming out btn cover and front of block.

I was thinking timing chain is bathed in oil, not coolant, so was surprised to see coolant there. Never said I was smart...
