I have the same dilemma with a used car I bought my wife in FL. a couple of years ago. Sides & rear window on a 300M were all tinted. I peeled the driver's door glass tint & used glass cleaner & razor blade with the door panel still on - THAT was a PITA! I didn't even do the others yet. As far as the back glass, I think I'll get a good used glass from a junkyard & just replace it with that. Peel it & clean it? NO WAY!

Use a steamer like those designed for getting wrinkles out of your (or your wife's) blouse.
It'll peel right off without hurting the defroster lines.

Yeah I tried the bag thing, no good in the cold, I tried the aircraft stripper, nothing. I'll try the steamer. They are cheap enough. WHY do people need the window so dark? I wondered the same thing and peeled the tint of this truck, which I could NOT back up at night time. I found 2 layers on top of each other. As for the defroster lines. I'm also looking for a solution.

Soak it good with windex and work it off with a heat gun or a hot hair dryer, it works. Windex is just diluted ammonia but high concentrate ammonia is too strong to breath the fumes so I wouldn't recommend it without a respirator. It can form hydrochloric acid with the water in your lungs, not worth the risk
If you catch the corner just right just keep spraying the windex to the underside as you pull it off at about a 60 degree angle to the glass.... it should pull off in sheets nice and clean.
Same thing for removing decals

Well I have a solution for backing up at night; http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QTGXYIEIt is by no means a great camera, but it is enough to see what is directly behind you & it uses your license plate screws. You can wire it as a stand alone & just plug it into your cigarette lighter when you need to use it.

I've got an update. Not a good update, just an update.
There is hours into this rear window tint glue removal. The tint came off in one complete sheet with the help of a heat gun. The glue is it's own problem. I'd say 75% of the glue stayed with the tint but the %25 left on my rear window with defroster lines is work. Using a plastic razor blade and Goo Gone I've accepted the fact progress is being made, just not much of it. Been using the blade to get the big areas scrapped down but close to the defroster lines it's just spray and wipe and repeat 10x's. Even with the glue gone there is a oily film which needs the help of Windex.
