I'm considering the gut-job, but I'd prefer a replacement. I've heard a few nasty stories about going down that route I'd rather avoid if I can still get a decent replacement. I gutted my battery last month – wasn’t sure what to expect, but figured whatever it was it wouldn’t be pleasant. I was happy to find this inside the casing. Not sure how old it is - bought it used in 2010 and at that time I was told it was only a year old.

If you decide to replace it, and want to sell the dead one let me know. Looking for a yellow Cap battery to gut.

Wouldn't you have to drill holes in the bottom to get the acid out before you cut the bottom out? If your talking about KWF340s, it looks like it's a completely sealed battery inside the MoPaR casing. I hope he'll clarify, but if that's the case the job just got a whole lot easier and makes a lifetime of replacements worth the effort.

Yes, there was a completely sealed battery inside which made it really easy to gut. An Odyssey PC925 fit with no problems. Just had to lengthen the existing cables to reach the new terminal locations (terminal-side down). You might be able to make it work without lengthening the cables by putting the terminal-side up, but it gets tight in there and it may be difficult to make the connection.

after cutting the bottom out did the sealed battery come out easly? More or less. Once you cut around the perimeter the only thing holding the battery in the case is the two cables (which are relatively short). The tricky part is reaching the lug bolts to disconnect the cables from the battery. Once disconnected, the battery drops out.
