I'm mocking up a 400 block bracket motor with a set of 440-1 heads I bought off of a member on here in the past,I'm having pushrod rubbing problems on two intake port runners(#1 and #7) on the drivers side using 7/16 O.D. pushrods with the Jesel 1.55 ratio paired rocker arms. I did swap those two pushrods to a smaller 3/8 diameter and they didn't rub when on the heel of the cam but they did hit at mid to max lift runaway I haven't mock up the other side up yet so I don't know if they will hit on that side also, my question is, is this common help
All input apreciated thumbs

Happened on my ez heads with 1.6 hughes rockers.Had to grind for clearance till I actually hit intake port.Got mad bought 440-1s with 1.55 jesels which should have helped in the clearance department. Still had to grind for clearance.By the way lifter bores were jigged and bushed. Buddy at the time did a 451 no clearance issues at all.Likely just a bad case of core shift.

I will find out tomorrow if the other head has the same problems or not. I thought it was odd that the two end intake runner hit the pushrods and the middle two didn't confused
Thanks up

Mock it up with some offset lifters. Should cure that.

I run paired T&D 1.7. With off set lifters and 7/16" push rods. A small amount of grinding was necessary on the intake port wall. I run very little clearance, no more than .060".No issues after 300 passes.

Jesel 1.55 rockers here, same trouble with clearance. I run offset lifters already, still needed more room for 7/16 or bigger pushrods.

up grin I have probally made every mistake there is to make on motors, maybe even some that no one else has found yet whistling work grin
If you don't test new parts or try doing things differently you usually won't make mistakes whistling shruggy
Not that I like finding out new ways to mess things up shruggy
That is why I, we post on here asking for help, correct work

This is where I would have to bow out. No experience with a low deck (the worst of pushrod angle) and 7/16 diameter PR's and the indy head. If you have the wall thickness....grab the die grinder - lol

Also note my jesel 1.55 also needed clearancing on the pushrod side of rocker when using indy cast valve cover with spray bar oiling. Feel along valve cover when running you'll know right away.
