Wondering if anyone has tips on how to get a 69 b-body trunk lid off by myself? I thought it might be possible to unbolt it and bring it down like shutting it but realized the hinge arms or whatever they're called are spring loaded at that point so when the trunk lid releases it could get ugly.

Any tips are appreciated.

They aren't terribly heavy. In the "open" position, remove the bolts. Cover the rear quarters with old blankets, etc.. Stand on a SOLID stool behind the car (maybe with one foot in the trunk) and pull the lid back and up off the arms.

I,ve done many by myself, but I don,t recommend it. the way the hinge fits inside the lid, it is very easy to put an dent into the lid if the hinge hits it from the inside.

Pop the springs loose first. No need to fight spring tension to do this.

Easy to do. Open, unbolt & pull up in line with the hinge angle.

A, B & E body, I have never needed help.

I just my engine hoist with a strap. Engine hoists are a wonderful thing. They are not only for lifting motors. Work smarter not harder!!!!

Damm computer. I'm beginning to hate these things. What I meant to say was I my engine hoist.

Don't feel bad. I do the same kind of thing sometimes. Especially when I'm sending from my stupid phone.

Yeah 20 years ago I'd have tried it alone, but things don't heal so quick and hurt more these days so I'm trying to avoid that if possible.

I've found some rolled up blankets strategically placed help. Always handy to have a blanket in the car.
