I need a 10 point socket to remove the trans from my 04 stratus r/t with a manual trans. Theres 6 or 8 bolts that go from a flex plate I guess to the flywheel. But they are 10 point and approx 13mm... which I have never seen. So wondering if anyone can help out, been looking for weeks with no luck.

May just be a dealer special tool you have to buy?

I'll check the manual Monday, a quick check at home it says don't remove the outer bolts or the flywheel will go off balance??? It does show a flywheel locking tool but nothing about the bolts. I'll check the paper manual tomorrow.

Theres suppose to be a way to put a screwdriver in there and pop it apart... but haven't figured it out yet. No luck at the dealer... may try a mitsubishi dealer. If I remove the bolts I could mark one to make sure I got it back to where it was.

I ck the paper manuel very not much on the subject. Alldata same. Ive never done one, but I did stay at a Holiday Express (I couldn't resist). I know the Neon are one peice you just unbolt the bolts to the flywheel, disc is not serviced by itself.

Fill me in on this car, do you have the trans out and looking at the clutch still attached to the crank? Or you can't get the trans out? Tom

The motor and trans are still together. There are 6 or 8 of these 10 point bolts that attach what i guess is like a flexplate to the flywheel. Motor and trans are out of the car as I am replacing the motor. It was hit in the front and the timing belt jumped and broke valves. I got a motor cheaper than the cost to fix mine with lower miles and a 6 month warranty... which of course has since ran out.

10 point bolts ??? are you sure they aren't TORX head bolts , they have sockets that a torx bit would fit into ????

Inverted torx sockets. Most tool supply stores and fastener supply companies have them.

Sounds like thats what it could be... it definetly has 10 points. I'll try harbor freight.

Edit: looks like this would be a 6 point. So don't think that is it.

swing by the dealer and see if you can ask a tech what it is , or go to the miller/spx site and see if you can find it .

JTC makes a Honda 10 point but its to large. Get a set of damaged nut removers like Grey Pneumatic 2300K individual 2305nr. Sears,Irwin and ebay sells them also. You can use an air hammer and bump the side. Vise grips should work. Tractor Supply or Fastenal sells new grade 10.9 bolts. Maybe your local hardware. Make sure the thread size, pitch and length are the same.
Snap On normally waits 8 to 10 years before making a specialty socket. Vim,Lisle or KD will eventually make one. Rotunda,Miller,J.Kent Moore make specialty sockets. Mitsubishi also uses the same bolt.
