Going through the engine and need a .030 bore What is a good piston to use for a street car, dome or flat top, type, brand etc? Car is a 383 auto 4bbl running basically a 383 magnum cam, 906 heads, just a nice driver.

Somebody is selling a new 383 piston design over in the new products section here. Its hard to find a shelf piston that fits most of the usual wishlist for a street 383 build.
I want my fair share

For my 383HP resto engine build, open for suggestions, I think I'll pay the money for a set of semi-custom pistons from Diamond with the following key features: * 4032 forging for a little bit better expansion for a street engine. * Compression Distance of 1.932" * No valve reliefs. * A more modern 1/16 x 1/16 x 3/16 ring pack. Basically, a copy of a stock HP piston with a modern spin. Should be about 9.2:1 compression with stock 906 heads so should run okay on pump gas.

Flat top piston is best , dome impedes flame travel. The problem with 383's is piston selection sucks. There is no piston out there that has the same compression height as a stock 383HP piston and the factory lied about the compression ratio.
There is a member that has a piston available that is close to stock , you want one wit ha small valve relief , 3cc would be best .
The best piston would be a custom Diamond with a step head dome for use with the 906.
What is your budget ?
Just reread your post , you are in Cali , land of crap gas , you need to build it right so it will run on the swill that is at the pump. JohnRR thanks for the information, Who is the member that offers the good piston that you mentioned? The car spends most of its time in Arizona, I think the gas quality is better plus I usually mix 25-50% Racing fuel anyway. Don't want to spend a ton on it but get a nice build. Is there a good flat top that is readily available for the 383, it seems that someone has referenced a Speed Pro piston in the past they have had luck with.

Diamond has pistons for use in the 383,using both the 383 rod and 440 rod non stroker.
Nautilus Racing-
We use Superformance gaskets and Turbo Action converters/products.

plymouth273 ,check out the speedpro sealed power L2315F. as close to original without custom ordering. ronnie Close but .012 shorter than a stock piston. will lower the compression ratio but he could cut the heads , which he should anyway.

Not much selection in off the shelf, stock stroke crank and rods, the KB162-30 would work for a mild street build.
That piston plain sucks, it's .024 shorter than stock and has a HUGE valve CANYON , he'll end up with 8.0ish compression.
