I did another track day at Blackhawk... I was planning a July event but Mitch called and said this was a good one. We met at the track. We had the best of the weekend with clear skies and moderate temps

Three 20 minute lap sessions in the AM and 7 timed HSAX runs in the PM. About 45 participants in various classes. This was the first time running on my new rear discs after burning up the drums last time. What an improvement! Balanced, no noticeable fade and no warped rotors. As I got more confident in the brakes, I could push harder into the turns. The rest of the car did great also save a small VC gasket leak which did not interfere with the fun.

I made some progress driving also... pretty much better with each timed lap. The class I entered had 2 cars so I even got a ribbon... just means on that day I needed to be 7 seconds faster for 1'st. I think I can make most of it up with driving... before making more changes to the car.

Mostly it was a fun day, good time with Mitch and everybody likes to see the "classics" run.

A few pics are attached. (I hope)

Andrew and I had a great time... we were, again, the two most popular cars at the event! Saturday Morning HPDE was a blast and the car handled great. I only took 3 of my 7 afternoon HSAX competition runs until I noticed some engine problems... wanted to cut it short before it got any worse... engine is tired... was last rebuilt ~30 years ago and has been raced very hard throughout all those years... time to rebuild.

Also, Andrew's Challenger substituted my car as the W2W Pace Car for a "featured" Formula Car (open wheel) afternoon race on Saturday at the end of the day! Then, on Sunday's W2W races, a brand new Challenger was the Pace Car for the entire day's W2W races... Challengers RULE!

For those interested and within reasonable driving distance to the Rockford, Illinois area, Blackhawk Farms Raceway has an en entire season of road course events. Check them out on the web.

Also... balance of HPDE/HSAX schedule can be found on www.mcscc.org Hope to meet some of you!

Mopar Mitch "Road racers and autocrossers go in deeper and come out harder!"... and rain never stops us from having fun with our cars... in fact, it makes us better drivers! Check out MOPAR ACTION MAGAZINE, August 2006 issue for feature article and specs on my autocross T/A!

Glad to see you guys out there enjoying your cars. Mopar Mitch has been a great asset to the site for us cornering guys. Too bad we are separated by so much geography! I'm out here on the left coast, he is in Illinois.
Next year I have tentative plans to take the wife and our 2015 Challenger to Illinois to begin our Route 66 trip at the very beginning. Maybe then I might get a chance to meet him face to face.
Glad to see the OP had a good time and that his equipment improvements have helped. A good street car that can serve double duty as an occasional track car sounds like a lot of fun. I'm currently working out some details to prep the Charger for autocross and road course. (In between other projects)

Sounds like a great trip! As your plans firm up, let me know and maybe we can get together.

Andrew
