I have a very simple question

how can you visual identify an AMD trim ring from an original
I am guessing that there is small pt# casted into the originals but not sure if a later NOS one could be w/o a pt#.

what is the correct length of the studs that get nutted under the hood?

if anyone could post good pics I would appreciate it greatly.

I might have me an issue and want to get my ducks lined up before I get on the phone.

thanks in advance.
Bill

Got me a NEW Project

Original transmission and Dana - Engine is a service replacement block.

Body has all stamped #s + VIN/TRIM tag and door sticker. Been hunting like all hell to find the Build Sheet.

garage find, only had 41,850 miles on ODO.

There is indeed a part number on an original as well as pentastar, and 7 digit vendor code all found together on the bottom srea of an original Challenger trim ring.
AMD nor any other reproduction Challenger trim ring has any numbers on them and are made of aluminum whereas originals are made of zinc.
There are reproduction Cuda trim rings with all the numbers like original Cuda but no has done that in Challenger.
Original zinc ring is quite a bit heavier than an aluminum ring obviously.
Studs are about 1/16 - 1/8 longer on the repro.

thanks for the info - greatly appreciate it

btw... I found out my ring is a repro one.
any chance the original trim ring is a little bit taller than the repro one does?

only asking because i can see more of the shaker bubble and the scripts on the side sit up above the ring more.
before i had the car worked on, they sat a bit lower in the hole....

there seems to be a bout a 1/8" or so difference on the height above the hood, with the one on my car being lower.

Correct on both the casting numbers and part#s (they are typically one digit off on the last number like that).
